Xiaomi India to launch ‘Desh Ka Smartphone’ on November 30
Xiaomi India has launched a slew of smartphones in India this year such as Redmi 4, Redmi Note 4, Mi A1, Mi MIX 2 and the most recent Redmi Y1/Y1 Lite. Aggressive pricing and strong sales of these devices have resulted in Xiaomi claiming the top spot in the Indian smartphone market.
But Xiaomi is not yet done launching phones in India this year, and has one more smartphone on their arsenal.
The China based device maker has announced that it will launch a new Redmi smartphone on November 30, which it calls "Desh Ka Smartphone". It also shared a teaser image of the phone, indicating it's the Redmi 5A which released in China last month.
As a reminder, the Redmi 5A is a slightly upgraded variant of Redmi 4A sporting an all-metal body. It features 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 13M/5MP cameras and 3000mAh battery.
It boots Android Nougat based MIUI 9 and supports microSD card, dual-SIMs, 4G VoLTE, WiFi and Bluetooth. Fingerprint scanner is still missing.
In China the phone is priced at Rs. 6,000, and we can expect the India pricing to be the same. Also it is not clear if this phone will launch as Redmi 5A, or by any other name. However, the phone is likely to be targeted at offline consumers.
