Earlier this month Idea Cellular came out with a new Rs. 309 plan that offered unlimited voice calls and 1GB data per day for 28 days. However, to counter Reliance Jio's new Rs. 299 plan Idea has revised the Rs. 309 plan to offer more data.
Idea's Rs. 309 tariff plan now gives 1.5GB data per day for 28 days. For the same period customers will also get unlimited voice calls including roaming calls and 100 SMS. Sadly there is FUP on the unlimited voice calling. The voice calls are capped at 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week. And once the limit is exhausted the calls will be charged.
For comparison, Jio's Rs. 299 plan offer unlimited voice calls (without FUP), 100 SMS and 2GB data per day for 28 days. Having said that, Idea also has a plan that offers 2GB data per day for 28 days, but is priced at Rs. 357. Airtel offers 2GB data per day for 28 days at Rs. 349. Like always, Jio's plan is much attractive.
Alongside the Rs. 299 plan, Jio had also introduced Rs. 199 plan that offered 1.2GB data per day for 28 days along with other benefits. Idea has already responded to this, by revising its Rs. 199 plan. It now offers 1GB data per day for 28 days, instead of just 1GB for the entire period.

Following Airtel and Reliance Jio, telecom operator Idea Celluar has revised its Rs. 199 tariff plan to offer 28GB data for 28 days.
To remind you Airtel recently revised its Rs. 199 plan to offer 28GB data (previously 1GB) for 28 days (1GB per day). Soon after, Jio also introduced two plans: Rs. 199 & 299 plan offering 33.6GB (1.2GB/day) and 56GB (2GB/day) data for 28 days. And now Idea has followed suit.
Idea's revised Rs. 199 tariff plan now offers 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls including roaming calls and 100 SMS per day for 28 days. These changes will be effective from today.
Currently, this plan is available in Himachal Pradesh circle, and is likely to expand to other circles in the coming days.

Idea Cellular has revised its Rs. 357 prepaid tariff plan to provide extra data per day. This change comes right after rival operators Airtel and Vodafone India started offering extra data with their similar plans.
Earlier Idea's Rs. 357 plan offered 1.5GB data per day, but now it is offering additional 500MB data. This means customers will get 2GB data per day for 28 days, taking the total to 56GB during the validity period. Also customers can get additional 1GB data if the recharge the plan via My Idea website or app. The additional 1GB data can be used on top of daily 1GB FUP.
Other benefits include unlimited local and STD calls (w/ FUP) as well as unlimited national roaming calls to all networks and 100 SMS per day. As for the FUP for voice calling, Idea is limited voice calls to just 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week.
The revised Rs. 357 plan from Idea Cellular is currently available only in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgrah circle. In other circles, this plan still still offer 1.5GB data per day, but we can expect the data benefits to be revised soon.

After Airtel and Vodafone India, Idea Cellular has modified its previous postpaid tariff plan, and named them as Nirvana postpaid plans. Idea's new Nirvana plans are quite similar to Aitrel's myPlan Infinity postpaid and Vodafone's RED plans, and introduces data roll over scheme.
Under the new Nirvana plans Idea is offering eight postpaid plans that start at Rs. 389 and goes up to Rs. 2,999. All of them offer unlimited voice calls and unlimited local and STD calls with free roaming to all networks, and 100 national SMSes per day for the entire billing period. However, the data benefit differs with each plan. Some other benefits are bundled as well.
The Rs. 389 plan gives you 10GB of data, the Rs. 499 pack offers 20GB of data, the Rs. 649 pack 35GB of data, the Rs. 999 pack 60GB of data, and the Rs. 1,299 pack 85GB of data. The higher-value Rs. 1,699 plan gives you 110GB of data, the Rs. 1,999 pack 135GB of data, while the Rs. 2,999 pack gives you 220GB of data per billing cycle.
Idea is also offering free International roaming minute with some Nirvana postpaid plans. The Rs. 1,299 and Rs. 1,699 plan offer 100 ISD minutes, while the Rs. 1,999 and Rs. 2,999 will give 200 ISD minutes per billing cycle. And customers can make free international voice calls to USA, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
Taking a page from Airtel and Vodafone, Idea has introduced data rollover scheme, where users can carry unused data of this month to next month. The Rs. 389, Rs. 499, Rs. 649, Rs. 999 and Rs. 1,299 plans let you carry forward up to 200GB of data. The Rs. 1,699, Rs. 1,999 and Rs. 2,999 plans have a data rollover limit of up to 500GB.
Other benefits of these plan are listed below:
- All tariff plan from Rs. 389 to Rs. 2,999 comes bundled with a free subscription to Idea Movies & TV, Idea Music and Idea Games App for 12 months. Customers can also enjoy five free premium magazines from Magzter on My Idea application.
- Rs. 499 and above Nirvana plans offer access to Idea Select Membership, under which, customers will get priority access at Idea Stores and Call Center, exclusive deals and promotions available on My Idea application.
- Customers opting for Rs. 499 and above plan will be offered Phone Secure feature, under which customers will get anti-theft, antivirus, and damage protection services for free.

However, you can get additional 1GB data (only) for the validity period if you recharge the pack from Idea's website or MyIdea app. The additional 1GB data can be used on top of daily 1GB FUP.
Do note that, just like other Idea plans, in the new Rs. 309 plan the free calls are capped at 250 minutes per days and 1000 minutes per week. Once the limit is exhausted, you'll be charged 1 paisa per second. Also, users are not allowed to call more than 100 unique numbers in a week. If you cross the limit the calls will be charged at 1 paisa per second.
Just recently Idea rolled out Rs. 509 prepaid plan that offers 1GB data per day but with longer validity. It comes with 84 days validity and also offers unlimited local and STD calling facility, free-roaming outgoing calls as well as 100 SMSes per day. Idea is also offering 1GB of extra data for 28 days if you recharge via MyIdea app.The additional 1GB data can be used on top of daily 1GB FUP.

To counter Reliance Jio's 459 plan, telecom operators Airtel and Idea Cellular have come out with a new Rs. 509 tariff plan for prepaid customers that offers voice call and data benefits.
Idea's Rs. 509 plan gives its customers unlimited local and STD calls, free roaming outgoing calls, 100 SMSes per day and 1GB of 3G data per day for 84 days. Customers can avail 1GB extra data if they recharge the Rs. 509 plan via Idea's website or MyIdea app. The extra 1GB data is also valid for 84 days.
In addition, Idea has also announced an additional offer under which customers are eligible for up to 100 percent cashback on recharges above Rs. 300. The cashback will be divided into seven discounts of Rs. 51 each on the next seven recharges.
Airtel's Rs. 509 plan, on the other hand also offers unlimited local and STD calls, free roaming outgoing calls, 100 SMSes per day and 1GB of 4G data per day for 84 days.
The difference between Airtel and Idea's plan is the data speed. On Idea plan you can browse the net at 3G speed, while on Airtel's network the speed is 4G.
For comparison, Reliance Jio's 459 plan offer the same benefits as Airtel and Idea's Rs. 509, but you get to browse the net in 4G speeds and access to Jio suite of apps. However, Jio also has Rs. 509 plan and it offers 2GB data per day for 49 days.

Airtel recently revised select plans to offer 500MB extra data. Now Idea Cellular is following suit. The telecom operator has revised its existing Rs. 198 plan to offer 500MB extra data for prepaid users.
The Rs. 198 plan previously offered 1GB of data for 28 days. However, under the revised plan, prepaid users will now get 1.5GB of data for 28 days. You can further get additional 1GB data if you buy the recharge from Idea's website or MyIdea app, for a total of 2.5GB data for 28 days.
The plan also offers unlimited free local and STD calls to any network, as well as roaming calls along with 100 SMS per day. However, the unlimited calls are capped at 250 minutes per day and 1,000 minutes per week. Also you cannot call more than 100 unique users in a week. Once the limit is exhausted calls will be charged at 1 paisa per second. Similarly the data will be charged 4 paisa per KB once the bundled 2.5GB data is exhausted.
Note that the Rs. 198 plan have been revised only in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgrah circles.

Following Reliance Jio and Airtel's footsteps, now Idea Cellular has come out with 100 percent cash back scheme. The offer is available for the Rs. 357 tariff plan and customers should recharge from MyIdea app or Idea website to receive the cashback.
If you recharge your Idea number with the Rs. 357 plan within the offer period, the telecom operator will offer a discount of Rs. 51 on your next seven subsequent recharges of Rs. 300 or above done via My Idea app or Idea website.
The seven vouchers of Rs. 51 will be valid for one year from the date of the first Rs. 357 tariff plan recharge. Do note that only one voucher can be redeemed for future single recharge of value greater than Rs. 300. And you can redeem only one voucher per month.
As for the benefits of the Rs. 357 plan, it comes with unlimited voice calls including local and national roaming calls, 100 SMS per day and 1.5GB data per day for 28 days.
In related news, Reliance Jio is running a cashback offer under which it is offering triple cashback. Customers will have to make a recharge of value greater than Rs. 399, and they will get Rs. 400 worth vouchers in the form 8 x Rs. 50 voucher, which you can use for the next eight recharges. To attract new customers, Idea Cellular has come out with a Rs. 555 first recharge coupon (FRC) pack, that offers similar benefits as Reliance Jio's Rs. 459 plan.
The FRC555 offers unlimited on-net voice calls, 100 Local/National SMS and 1GB of data per day for 84 days. The on-net unlimited calls are capped at 300 minutes per day, and 1200 minutes per week. moreover, all local and STD calls to other networks would be charged at 1.5p/sec.
The pack is currently available in select circles including Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, UP West. Also do note that, the price of the pack may differ circle to circle, but the benefits will be the same. In some circle the pack offers 1.5GB of data.

Indian telecom operator Idea Cellular has teamed up with Sony India to offer additional 4G data benefits for those purchasing Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus. The phones will be hitting the shelves tomorrow, November 10 and will be available both online and offline stores.
Under the offer, customers purchasing Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus, will ge an additional 10GB 4G data with every recharge of Rs. 300 and above for first six recharges. So, this makes up for total 60GB additional data during the six-month period.
This means if your recharge the Xperia R1/R1 Plus with Idea's Rs. 357 plan, you will plan benefits of 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS for 28 days, plus 10GB additional data. That said, there is no FUP on the usage of 10GB data during the month.
To recap, the Sony launched the Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus in India targeted at mid-range segment. They are priced at Rs. 12,990 and Rs. 14,990 respectively, and feature 5.2-inch HD display, Snapdragon 430 processor, 13MP/8MP camera and 2620mAh battery.
The difference between the two models is in the RAM and storage department. The Xperia R1 comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, whereas, the Xperia R1 Plus has 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.
Both also include dedicated slot for microSD card and dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE support, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth and WiFi. They run Android Nougat out of the box, but Sony has promised an upgrade to Oreo, when it's ready. Color options include Black and Silver.

In addition to sweeten the deal, those who recharge the Rs. 179 pack via Idea website or MyIdea app will get an additional 1GB data for free, making it 2GB data for 28 days.

The telecom operator has launched a new long-term validity plan of Rs. 398, as well as a 28 days validity plan of Rs. 357. Both plans are targeted at prepaid users.
Idea's new Rs. 398 tariff plan offers 1GB of 3G/4G data per day for 70 days, along with unlimited local and STD calls to all networks. However, the plan's validity differs in different telecom circles. For instance, in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana circle, the plan comes with only 56 days validity. Also the price of the plan may vary from circle to circle.
As for the Rs. 357 prepaid plan, it offers unlimited local and STD calls to all networks, 100 SMS/day and 1.5GB 3G/4G data for 28 days. The plan can be availed by both both new and existing Idea customers.

Reliance Jio a few days ago, extended its Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer with a new Rs. 399 plan that offered unlimited voice calling and 1GB data per day for 84 days. Following the announcement, Aircel came out with a similar plan priced at Rs. 348, but the data speed is capped at 3G.
And now Idea has countered Jio's new plan by announcing Rs. 453 pack for its prepaid users . Like Jio, Ideas new pack provides 1GB data per day for 84 days. However, it will will only provide 3G internet speed instead of 4G.
And the calls are limited to 300 minutes per day, and 1200 minutes per week. If a user exhausts the complimentary minutes, the calls will be charged at 30p per minute. Also if the data cap is exhausted, users will be charged 4p per kb.
Besides Rs. 453 pack, Idea also announced a new Rs. 16 recharge pack that gives users unlimited data at 3G speed for one hour. This is same as Vodafone's SuperHour pack, which promise unlimited data usage for an hour.

Vodafone has confirmed that it is in merger talks with rival Idea Cellular. Multiple reports in the past couple of days have been hinting about the merger talks, but the speculation can now be put to rest.
London based Vodafone Group Plsc has released a press statement confirming that it is in talks to merge its Indian arm with Aditya Birla Group's Idea Cellular for an all-share deal to tackle the fierce competition in the market triggered by Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio.
The company further mentioned that any merger would be effected through the issue of new shares in Idea to Vodafone, resulting in Vodafone deconsolidating its Indian business. However, Vodafone says, the merger talks will exclude the company's 42 percent stake in Indus Towers, India's biggest telecom tower company.
If the deal goes through, the merged identity (Vodafone and Idea Cellular) will become the country's biggest telecom operator in terms of market share (43 percent) and subscribers. Currently Airtel is the country's largest telecom operator, with a 33 pecent share of the market, while Reliance Jio is rapidly rising and has 13 percent stake, that it achieved within six months of commencing commercial operation.
Vodafone has been caught in the crossfire of telecom wars initiated by the arrival of Reliance Jio, which has shaken up the telecom market by offering free voice and data to customers. Apart from Vodafone, other telecom operators like Airtel, BSNL and Aircel have also been taking the heat, and have launched a number unlimited calling and bundled data plans to keep their customers at bay.

Telecom operator Idea has teamed up with Flipkart to offer free data for smartphone purchases made on the e-commerce website. The teleco is offering 15GB of mobile data at the price of 1GB to its subscribers who buy 4G smartphones on Flipkart.
To avail the offer, you should be an Idea 4G SIM holder and buy a new 4G smartphone from Flipkart. However, not all 4G smartphones listed on the website are eligible for the offer. Instead you need to pick from one of the smartphones listed on Idea's website to avail the offer.
In case you purchased a new 4G smartphone, insert the Idea SIM, and head over to offer page on Idea's website. Using Idea network, register you mobile number via the newly purchased 4G smartphone from Flipkart, and once the registration is complete, perform a 1GB recharge, and the extra 14GB will be automatically added to your account.

The Rs. 344 pack, offers unlimited local or STD voice calls to any other network in India and 1GB of 4G data. The recharge also gives users free incoming calls on national roaming as well. The Rs. 144 pack will vary between Rs. 144 and Rs. 148, while the Rs. 344 pack will vary between Rs. 344 and Rs. 349 depending on the region.
Coming to Idea Cellular's plans, the teleco has also introduced two packs ㅡ The Rs. 148 pack offers free local and STD Idea-to-Idea calls as well as 300MB of 4G data, while the Rs. 348 packs offers free local and STD calls to any network in the country, along with 1GB of 4GB data. Prices of these packs may vary from circle to circle.
Both Vodafone and Idea Cellular's unlimited voice calling packs carry validity of 28 days, and if customers don't have 4G smartphone, the data benefits are limited to 50MB in the recharge packs.
