Android One debuts in Bangladesh with Symphony Roar A50
Earlier this month, Google announced that it will be expanding its Android One programme to other emerging mobile markets after India, namely, SriLanka, Nepal and Bangladesh.
Now, Symphony mobile, a local brand in Bangladesh launched the country's first Android One smartphone dubbed the Symphony Roar A50. The handset is the first Android One device to be sold outside India.
Android One Programme from Google was announced in June as a way for Google to provide a high-quality Android experience on entry level handsets. The first three Android One handsets were manufatured by Micromax, Karbonn, and Spice in India. [Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V and Spice Dream UNO]. All have a 4.5-inch screen, a quad-core Mediatek SoC, a micro SD slot, and dual-SIM functionality.
Coming to the specs of the Symphony Roar A50, the handset features a 4.5-inch IPS FWVGA display and powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor paired with 1GB RAM and 8 GB inbuilt storage [microSD card support upto 32GB]. Camera features include 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front camera. Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, and a 1780mAh battery.
The Symphony A50 is Priced at BDT 8,700 (Rs. 7,000; $110).The handset is available for pre-orders via Banglalink and sales are expected to start sometime in mid-January. . The symphony A50 buyers will receive 1GB of browsing data in the first month and an additional 300 MB of data per month in the next six months for system upgrades and application downloads.
