Google brings Android One program to Myanmar with Cherry Mobile One


Google's Android One initiative was launched in Myanmar. With the launch, Myanmar becomes the eighth country to get Android One Phones after India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Philippines and Turkey. 

Philippines based Cherry Mobile will be Google's OEM partner in Myanmar and will release the Cherry Mobile One to the country.

Cherry Mobile One has 4.5-inch FWVGA (800 x 480 pixels) display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, microSD card slot for storage expansion, Dual-SIM, 5-megapixel camera with LED, 2-megapixel front facing camera and 1700mAh battery. It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box and will automatically receive an update to the next version of Android upon its release.

The Cherry Mobile One Android One phone is priced at MMK 1,09,900 (Rs. 6,250) and will be available starting June 26 via retail stores across Myanmar. Google also plans to expand the Android One initiative to more countries in the coming months.

Caesar Sengupta, VP, Product Management at Google, said, "We hope the arrival of Android One helps put great smartphones into the hands of more people across Myanmar, and we look forward to working with our partners to launch more devices in more countries over the coming months."
