Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 2 Prime with 5.5-inch FHD display, Helio X10 SoC and MIUI 7 goes official


Xiaomi at its MIUI 7 event in Beijing, China unveiled the highly anticiapted Redmi Note 2 along with Redmi Note 2 prime. Both handset differ only by clock speed of processor and on-board storage.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 features 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS displat with 178-degree viewing angles. Inside there is a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) processor with PowerVR G6200 GPU and 2GB LPDDR3 RAM. On-board storage is 16GB. 

Xiaomi  Redmi Note 2 Prime packs 2.2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) processor and comes with 32GB on-board storage. Rest of the specs is same as Redmi Note 2.

For imaging there is 13-megapixel Samsung rear camera sensor with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and is claimed to feature a shutter speed of 0.1 second. The rear camera features aperture of f/2.2 and a 5-element lens. On the front there is a 5-megapixel shooter with OmniVision sensor and 1.4-micron pixel.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 runs Android MIUI 7 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, has dual SIM slot and supports 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS + GLONASS and Micro USB 2.0 connectivity. It is fueled by 3060mAh battery. The phone measures 152mm x 76mm x 8.25mm, with an overall weight of 160g. It comes in Dark Grey, White, Blue, Bright Yellow and Pink flavors.



Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is priced at CNY 899 (US$ 140 | Rs. 9,000) and Redmi Note 2 Prime costs CNY 999 (US$ 155 | Rs. 10,000). There is also a 3G variant of Redmi Note 2 which will be available for CNY 799 ( US$ 125 | Rs. 8,000). It will go on sale in China starting August 14.
