Marshmallow running on 0.3% of Android devices, Lollipop passes 25%
Andoird 6.0 Marshmallow has made its first appearance on the Android Distribution chart. The latest Android OS that started its limited rollout to Nexus devices one month ago, is now present on 0.3 percent of devices. The OS also comes pre-installed on the new Nexus devices- Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, and the HTC One A9.
Lollipop continues to soar as more smartphone makers are updating their devices. The Android 5.x Lollipop has a total share of 25.6 percent, up by 2.1 percent, as compared to 23.5 percent in October. Android 4.4 KitKat is now present on 37.8 percent of the device, dropping 1.1 percent from last month.
Android Jelly Bean ranging from Android 4.1 to Android 4.3 powers 29 percent of the devices down from 30.2 percent, while Ice Cream Sandwhich is present on 3.3 percent of devices down from 3.4. Meanwhile, Gingerbread and Froyo have remained unchanged on 3.8 percent and 0.2 percent since October.
The data are collected from Google Play visitors during a seven-day period ending on November 2.
