YouTube Music launches in U.S for Android and iOS
YouTube has introduced YouTube Music, a service which allows users to stream music for free. The platform will offer songs both with and without video, and users will be able to switch instantly to an audio-only mode.
With the current YouTube, one has to keep the screen active to play a video, but YouTube Music will allow playing the same without the need for the screen to be turned on.
The app lets users explore YouTube's catalog and if you search for an artist, track or album, it will display everything from official music videos to popular covers and remixes to concert videos. YouTube Music app has three tabs- Home where you see recommendations based on your taste, What's Hot and Liked. It will also show new music of the week.
YouTube Music is free to download on Android and iOS. The streaming service will be free but will come without advertisements for subscribers to YouTube Red, which costs $9.99 a month. If you are not subscribed to YouTube Red, you can straightaway start using YouTube Music, and it works the other way as well- subscribe for YouTube Music at $9.99 per month, and you will be able to get access to YouTube Red within the same plan.
The price for iOS version is shown as $12.99 per month. User will be able to enjoy a 14-day free trial upon installing the app. To remind you YouTube Red is an ad free subscription video streaming service that was launched last month. YouTube Music is currently available in the U.S.
