Lenovo rumored to use Samsung's Exynos 8870 processor
Following rumor that Meizu Pro 6 will be powered by an upcoming Samsung Exynos 8870 SoC, another rumor coming out of China suggests that Lenovo will also release a Exynos 8870 armed smartphone, which will be a flagship device. Unfortunately the details halt here.
The Samsung Exynos 8870 SoC is said to be a toned down version of Exynos 8890 processor. The chip offers lower clock speed as compared to the Exynos 8890 14nm processor with custom CPU cores and Mali T880 GPU. It will be produced specifically for third-party Samsung clients and Meizu is said to be one of them. This makes sense as Meizu has previously used Samsung processors, the Exynos 7420 on the Meizu Pro 5.
It is worth noting that, Lenovo has also used Samsung's Exynos processor specifically the Exynos 4412 on the K860 LePhone, so we can expect Lenovo to use Samsung's chip once again.
Samsung is yet to confirm that it is working on Exynos 8870 chipset.
