LG G5 with unique modular design gets official


LG has officially announced that G5, the company's latest flagship. The LG G5 sports metal and glass design, and comes with dual rear camera, and a hardware expansion slot, which can be utilised to enhance the camera and battery of the phone.

The LG G5 sports 5.3-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) IPS display with an Always On mode. This features allows a portion of the screen to be lit-up to show time, battery status and notification, even when the phone is asleep. This feature sips just 0.8 percent of battery per hour.

It is powered by quad-core Snapdragon 820 64-bit processor with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB RAM. On-board storage is 32GB, which can be increased up to 2TB via microSD card. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

For photography, there is a dual-camera setup on the back - 16-megapixel with dual tone LED flash, laser auto focus and 4K video recording, and an 8-megapixel secondary camera with 135-degree wide angle capture. For capturing selfies and making video calls you get an 8-megapixel front camera.

Connectivity features include WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C and NFC. It is fueled by 2800mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0. There is also a fingerprint sensor at the back.


The hardware expansion modules include two components - a camera called CAM Plus and  for audio called Hi-Fi Plus with B&O Play. The CAM Plus can be attached through the battery slot for a comfortable grip and convenient control of a DSLR. It comes with physical buttons for power, shutter, record and zoom and has features like Auto Focus and exposure lock. It also packs an additional battery capacity of 1200mAh.

The Hi-Fi Plus is a portable audio player developed in collaboration with B&O Play. It supports 32-bit 384KHz HD audio playback, and can be used with LG G5 or a seperate digital audio chip (DAC) that connects to any PC or smartphone.

The LG G5 comes in Silver, Titan, Gold and Pink color and will be available globally in April.
