Gionee W909 is a dual-screen Android clamshell phone with 4GB RAM, fingerprint sensor

After getting TENAA certification earlier this month, Gionee has officially launched the W909 Android clamshell smartphone. Even though it's a compact flip phone, the W909 does pack powerful hardware inside it, and appears to be the first clamshell phone to be equipped with fingerprint sensor.

The Gionee W909 sports a premium metal body and has a leather-like finish on the back. The fingerprint sensor is located at the back right below the camera, which can unlock the device in 0.38 seconds. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The Gionee W909 comes with two 4.2-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display with 2.5D curved glass, one on the front and the other on the inside along with a T9 keypad.

Under the hood there is an 1.8GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor coupled with Mali T860 GPU and 4GB RAM, and comes with 64GB on-board storage, further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

For photography the W909 gets a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, PDAF, and 5-megapixel front camera for video calls and clicking selfies. Connectivity duties are handled by 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB Type-C. It is fueled by 2530mAh battery.

The Gionee W909 is priced at CNY 3999 ($615 | Rs. 41,000) and is now available for order in China. It comes in Rose Gold color.
