Xiaomi announces Mi Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker
Xiaomi has announced it new sub-brand in the Mi Ecosystem dubbed MIJIA which means Xiaomi Smart Home. Under the new brand Xiaomi launched the first product called Mi IH (Induction Heating) Pressure Rice Cooker, which has been developed with inputs from Natio Takeshi, a renowned engineer from Japan.
Since it is a smart home appliance, it has a built-in WiFi 80211n to connect with you handheld devices. The Mi IH can be controlled by your smartphone via an app to adjust the softness of your rice, among other factors. The app also comes with recipes.
The Mi IH cooker has a magnetic relief valve to control the pressure inside the cooker to 1.2 times that of the atmospheric pressure, corresponding to an ideal boiling point of water at 105 degree Celsius, resulting in more flavorful rice. The container inside MI IH is made of grey cast iron which is very strong, offers uniform heat and comes with non-sticky coating.
You can also scan the rice package's barcode using your smartphone, and the data will be upload to cloud, after which the best corresponding heating method will be calculated out the total 2,450 heating methods available for the Mi IH cooker. The cooker has a 3-liter capacity and comes with a spoon.
The Mi IH Pressure Rice Cooker has been priced at CNY 999 ($155 | Rs. 10,000) and will go on sale during the Mi Fan Festival in China in April. Xiaomi said that it will launch more smart home products under the MIJIA brand in the near future.
Regarding the Mi Ecosystem, Xiaomi said:
"To build the Mi Ecosystem, Xiaomi has so far invested in 55 companies that design and manufacture products beyond its three core product categories: smartphones, smart TVs and smart routers. Among these, 29 companies including Zhimi (which makes the Mi Air Purifier) and Viomi (which makes the Mi Water Purifier) have been incubated by Xiaomi from their founding. To date, over 20 Mi Ecosystem companies have launched products and won 28 international design awards in total.
Several Mi Ecosystem companies have become industry benchmarks. Zhimi’s annual sales of air purifiers crossed one million, Zimi has sold over 46.9 million power banks to date, while Huami has sold over 18.5 million fitness bands. Among these 55 companies, seven have annual sales of over US$100 million, while two have reached annual sales of over US$1 billion."
