Docoss X1 launched for Rs. 888, another Freedom 251?

After the controversial Freedon 251 by Ringing Bells, another dirt cheap Android smartphone called Docoss X1 is expected to hit the Indian market soon. Docoss, a brand unheard of, is based in Jaipur, and has come out with full-page newspaper advertisements for the X1, which is priced just at Rs. 888.

In the promotions, Docoss says that it has started taking booking for the X1 smartphone on their website and a hotline number (9616003322). The bookings are open until April 29, and the brand promises to deliver the X1 starting May 2. Docoss is also accepting cash on delivery at Rs. 99 extra.

What does Docoss X81 offers at Rs. 888? The phone comes with a compact 4-inch WVGA display, 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex A7 processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB inbuilt expandable storage, 2MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera, dual-SIM slot, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and a 1300mAh battery. It run the dated Android 4.4 KitKat.

It's worth noting that the company was registered on March 2, and is barely two months old and there's no information about the owner. The company website is also not working properly. At the time of writing the company has stopped taking bookings on the website, and now says to send SMS to register. It is recommended to stay away from the deal for now.

While Ringing Bells promised to deliver the first Freedom 251 order by June 31, Docoss promises to get it delivered starting May 2. So we'll find out if Docoss X1 turns out be legit or another dud in less than a week.
