Micromax unveils new logo, announces 20 new products, e-store and more
Micromax has been losing ground to Chinese smartphone makers, and now in a bid to beef up the competition, the company has announced a new strategy to take the battle to the competitors. At its "Guts to Change" event in Gurgaon, New Delhi, Micromax unveiled its new brand logo, and announced a slew of products including smartphones, tablets and LED TVs. Here are some of the key announcements –
New Logo and tag line
Micromax unveiled a new logo with the same iconic color & punch symbol and changed the tagline from 'Nothing Like Anything' to 'Nuts: Guts: Glory'.
At the event, Micromax outlined a five-point strategy called Micromax 3.0, which will lead the charge for the continued growth of the company. The domestic vendor, also aims to become a full fledged customer electronics company and also wants to be the biggest service provider in the country.
Around Service
Micromax will intergrate a host of services into the Around platform, which will be available in the company's devices, and it's sub-brand YU devices as well. To recall the Around YU platform was launched with Yu's flagship YuYutopia, and now is re-branded as 'Around'. Users will be able to pay for the services using the company's proprietary mobile wallet, which will also be integrated to the Around platform. "On the homescreen you will get the Around interface and you will be able to book you Ola cab,"said Micromax.
New Products announcement
Micromax announced new LED TVs with 32-inch, 40-inch and 50-inch screen sizes, two 4G tablets - P710 (7-inch) and P810 (8-inch) tablet and a total of 15 smartphones, including flagship Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro, that are now available for pre-order. The others include Canvas Mega 2, Canvas Fire 6, Canvas Selfie 4, Canvas Spark 2 Plus, Canvas Spark 3, Canvas Evok, Canvas Unite 4, Canvas Fire 5, Canvas Selfie 5, Bolt Selfie, Bolt Supreme, Bolt Supreme 2 and Bolt Q381. These smartphones will be launched in the coming months.
Make in India initiative
Micromax is also aggressively pushing into the Governments 'Make in India' initiative. The company will invest heavily in setting up three new manufacturing plants in Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan by 2017. The company ensures to have 100 percent production of its products in the country as compared to 60 percent it is able to do currently. These plans will include an investment of Rs. 300 crore and employing over 10,000 people by next year.
Micromax e-Store
Micromax also launched its e-store at stores.micromaxinfo.com, which is now taking pre-order for the Canvas Six and Canvas Six Pro. Micromax also plans to bring its existing products to the new site within a month.
Road ahead
By 2020 Micromax aims to be one of the top five smartphone brand globally. Currently, Micromax is the only Indian brand to make it to the top 10 global smartphone brand chart. With just two years of entry into Russia, the brand has claimed third spot.
