Android Marshmallow hits 10.1 percent adoption rate


Google has released the Android distribution number for the month of June. The numbers are compiled from Android devices accessing the Google Play Store, in a seven-day period ending on June 7.

According to Android distribution chart Android Marshmallow is now present on 10.1 percent of all active Android devices, 2.6 percent increase from last month figure of 7.5 percent.

Android Lollipop's adoption 35.4 percent, a slight 0.2 percent decrease as compared to last month's 35.6 percent. However, it is still the most installed version of Android. KitKat went down from 32.5 percent in May to 31.6 percent in June. Jelly Bean went down from 20.1 percent to 18.9 percent in the same period.

The rest of Android's OS have low shares and saw slight drops. Ice Cream Sandwhich dropped from 2 percent in May to 1.9 percent in June, Gingerbread dropped from 2.2 percent to 2.0 percent in the same period. Froyo is still hanging on and is present in just 0.1 percent of all Android devices.
