Micromax Canvas 5 Lite Special Edition with wood finished back panel announced
Micromax launched the Canvas 5 smartphone for Rs. 11,999 last year in November, which is currently on sale for around Rs. 10,000 on online stores. Now the company has announced a new variant of the Canvas dubbed Canvas 5 Lite Special Edition.
The reason to call it 'Special Edition' is for the back panel which has a wood finish that comes in maple or walnut flavors. However when compared with the original Canvas 5, the specs have been toned down.
Running the dated Android 5.0 Lollipop, the Micromax Canvas 5 Lite Special Edition offers 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display, 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6753P processor, 3GB RAM and 16GB of inbuilt expandable storage (via microSD card).
For imaging, it gets an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and can record 720p video. For selfies and video calling there's 5-megapixel front snapper. For connectivity there's dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. A 2000mAh battery provides the juice for running, which promises 4.5 hours of talktime and 150 hours of standby time.
By comparison, the Canvas 5 had a slightly bigger 5.2-inch 1080p display (w/ Gorilla Glass 3 protection), 13MP rear camera and 2900mAh battery, the rest of the spec list being identical to the new model.
The Micromax Canvas 5 Lite Special Edition is listed on the company website, but there's no word on pricing and availability. However it is expected to be priced below Rs. 8,499 when it goes on sale.
