Moto Z, Moto Mods launching in India on October 4

Moto India has sent out invites for an event on October 4 to launch the Moto Z. The invite shows several iconic Motorola handsets from the past including the Aura, Rizr Z8, Zine ZN5, RAZR Maxx V6 Ferrari Edition, V195, V70, RAZR V3i and Z alphabet of their latest innovative Moto Z series.

The main USP of Moto Z is that it comes with modular accessories called Moto Mods, that snaps to the back of the phone via high-powered magnets to give it extra functionality. These include Insta-Share Projector, JBL SoundBoost, Hasselblad True Zoom, instant Power Packs (to boost battery life) and Moto Shells.

The Moto Z series includes three smartphones, the flagship Moto Z and Moto Z Force, and the mid-range Moto Z Play, and all support Moto Mods. However, it is not clear which Moto Z phones will be launched in India, but it's likely to be the Moto Z and Moto Z Play.

To recap the specs, the Moto Z features 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display, Snapdrgaon 820 SoC, 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage, 13MP rear & 5MP front camera, fingerprint scanner, Android Marshmallow, water repellent nano-coated body, 4G LTE, NFC, 2600mAh battery and USB Type-C. The phone does not include 3.5mm jack, instead uses USB Type-C to connect headphones.

The Moto Z Play on the other hand offers 5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon 625 SoC, 3GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage, 16MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, fingerprint scanner, 4G LTE, NFC, USB Type-C, Android Marshmallow, water-repellent nano-coated body and 3150mAh battery. It does include 3.5mm jack.
