Reliance Jio announces tarrif, Jio SIM will be available for everyone from September 5
After months of its network trails and partnering with various smartphone brand for the same, it was a matter of time for Reliance Jio to launch its services officially. Today Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries at the company's AGM today announced the commercial roll out of Jio network.
Jio will be available for everyone from September 5, and as part of Jio's Welcome Offer, all users will get unlimited data, voice calling, video calling and access to Jio suite of app till December 31 2016. The company also detailed the plans.
There will be a total of 10 plans and they will start at Rs. 149 and go up to Rs. 4,999. All the plans are valid for 28 days and will include free unlimited local and STD voice calls and roaming across India. Jio will also offer unlimited 4G data at night and unlimited local and national SMS.
Data plans will be Rs. 50 for 1GB, which is the most affordable in the world. For comparison, competitors, charge around Rs 250 for 1GB data. There's also daily plan of Rs. 19, which offers 100MB of data and unlimited 4G at night. The Rs. 199 and Rs. 299 plans offer 750MB and 2GB data for 7 days and 21 days respectively, along with unlimited data during the night.
Jio will also be made available for different consumer segments. Students will get an additional 25 percent more data on Jio's main tariff as part of Students Discount Offer. Reliance also introduced Platinum Plan which offers benefits like low international roaming rates, concierge services and personalized network coverage.
The company will be offering LYF devices starting at Rs. 2,999 and the JioFi hotspot will be priced Rs, 1,999.
Currently Jio's 4G network covers 18,000 cities and towns, and over 2 lakh villages. By March 2017, the company plans to cover 90 percent of India's population. The overall aim is to remove Black out days and offer transparent bills.
