Samsung India offering new Gear VR for free to compensate delayed Galaxy Note7 for those who pre-booked


Soon after the battery explosion issue, Samsung suspended sales of Galaxy Note7 and announced a global recall of the phone. The Galaxy Note7 was supposed to go on sale in India on September 2 but was delayed due to the issue.

Now Samsung India has issued a statement saying that, the Galaxy Note7 sales were delayed in India due to battery issues, and the company is conducting thorough inspection with its suppliers to identify possible batteries affected. Here's the complete statement:
Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident reported by our valued customers very seriously. In response to recent cases reported globally of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue. As our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have delayed the sales of Galaxy Note7 in India. We acknowledge the inconvenience caused to you but this is to ensure that Samsung continues to deliver the highest quality products to our customers. Appreciate your understanding.
When Samsung launched the Galaxy Note7 in India, the company announced that the new Gear VR will be available at a discounted price of Rs. 1,990 (original price: Rs. 7,290) for all customers who pre-order the phone. To make it up with customer who pre-ordered the phone, Samsung will now bundle the Galaxy Note7 absolutely free of cost.

Once the Galaxy Note7 will reach the customer, they need to activate the device within the specified time to avail the offer. All the details will be informed to the customer who had pre-order the phone, by SMS/call/email. In addition, Samsung is also offering free VR content worth Rs. 3,000.

Currently, it is not known when the Galaxy Note7 will go sale in India, but according to reports, Samsung will begin sales and deliveries of the Galaxy Note7 in the country by the end of the month.
