Lenovo launches new Legion gaming laptops


Lenovo at CES 2017 introduced a new gaming sub-brand called Lenovo Legion targeted at gamers under which it launched two Windows 10 gaming laptops called Legion Y720 and Legion Y520.

The Legion Y720 is claimed to be the world's first laptop to feature Dolby Atmos technology for superior audio quality. The laptop also support Xbox One wireless controller and has an optimised thermal cooling system for keeping the system cool when playing high-graphic games.

It sports a 15.6-inch IPS display with anti-glare and comes with the option of Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) or UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution. The laptop powered by up to seventh generation Intel Core i7 processor and packs NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics with dedicated 6GB DDR5 RAM, making it VR compatible as well. It supports up to 16GB DDR4 RAM and comes with storage option of 128GB, 256GB or 512GB SSD storage or 1TB/2TB HDD storage.





Connectivity options include 3 x USB 3.0 ports, Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port, HDMI, DisplayPort, WiFi, Bluetooth and Gigabit Ethernet. It has backlit keyboard, weighs 3.2kgs and promises up to five hours of run time.



The Legion Y520 is a toned down model with 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display, seventh gen Intel Core i7 processor and packs NVIDIA 1050 Ti graphics card. It comes with 2 x Harman speakers with Dolby audio for enhanced sound quality, and weighs in at 2.4kg. The storage and memory options are same as Y720. It includes USB 3.1 Type-C ports, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, USB 2.0 port, WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet port for connectivity.

The Lenovo Legion Y720 laptop will be available in April 2017 starting at $1399.99 (Rs. 96,000), while the Legion Y520 will be available in February 2017 with a starting price of $899.99 (Rs. 61,500).
