Xiaomi Mi Bunny is an adorable smart speaker for kids

Xiaomi made its CES debut this year, but it was a bit disappointing since the products it showcased ― Mi TV 4, Mi Router HD, White Mi MIX and others ― would be available in China later this year and not in international market.

That said the Chinese electronics company also introduced a voice based smart speaker for kids dubbed Mi Bunny at CES 2017. The device looks like Xiaomi's bunny mascot 'Kuri' and comes complete with the furry cap.

The Mi Bunny works as a kid's companion integrated with Xiaomi's own voice technology and can read more than 10,000 books out loud to help kids develop their speech and social interaction. It can also send and read received texts on WeChat, a popular messaging app in China.

When you talk to Mi Bunny, its ears light up thanks to the integrated LED lights. Xiaomi says the device's AI integration will get better at interaction and speech recognition over time.

It is fueled by an 1800mAh battery, which should last for up to seven hours on a single charge.

Xiaomi will sell the Mi Bunny exclusively in China for CNY 199 ($29 | Rs. 1,950).

The Dell Canvas is a 27-inch work surface for creative professionals

Dell at CES 2017 unveiled it's version of Microsoft's Surface Studio AIO PC called Canvas, however Microsoft has no reason to worry about it.

The Dell Canvas is a "horizontal smart workspace" aimed at creative professionals with a big 27-inch screen that can be used at an angle (adjusting via kickstand) or lay flat on desk and can be used for drawing, sketching, editing music & videos and more. Similar to Surface Studio, Dell's Canvas ships with a pen and Totem, which looks and functions like Surface Dial.

But the similarities stops there. The Canvas is not a full-fledged PC, as it does not have a CPU at its core, but it is a huge screen that can be used with any Windows 10  PC. This means the Canvas acts as a touchscreen board for drawing, sketching, editing videos, while a Windows 10 device connected to a secondary display (monitor) will show the progress or result.

The 27-inch touch screen bears a Quad HD (2560 x 1400 pixels) resolution with very slim bezels and 100 percent color gamut. It supports pen input and houses 2 x USB 3.0 ports and a USB-C port. It also works with software solutions like Adobe, Autodesk, AVID, Dassault Systems, and SolidWorks.

The Dell Canvas is priced at $1800, which is half the price tag of Microsoft's Surface Studio. It will be up for pre-order in March and will start shipping in April.

Intel Compute Card is a credit card sized PC aimed at Internet of Things

Intel has been toying with the idea of making the PC compact for years. The company introduced NUC mini PCs measuring around 4.5" x 4.4" and went further smaller with the Intel Compute Stick, a first of its kind PC-on-Stick, measuring about 4" x  1.5".

Now the chipmaker is taking the form factor to the next level with a new PC that has a size of a credit card and can fit into your wallet. The Intel Compute Card measures about 3.7" x 2.2" and is 5mm (0.2-inches) thick. However, the Compute Card is not a consumer PC, instead aimed at developers looking to integrate a computer with Intel SoC into smart and connected devices.

Even though it has a small size, it includes all the components utilized by a full fledged PC including Intel SoC, memory, storage and wireless connectivity with flexible I/O options. Due to its tiny form factor, the Compute Card can be used in future  devices like interactive refrigerators, and smart kiosks to security cameras and IoT gateways.

One of the advantage of Compute Card is that it can be easily repaired or replaced with the latest model when it arrives.

Intel says that it's working with partners including Dell, HP, Lenovo and Sharp "to bring this vision into reality".

Features of Intel Compute Card
  • Processor, memory, storage and wireless connectivity are all included in the card
  • Intel Compute Card-based device will provide the power, cooling and the optimized user I/O for that particularly solution
  • Connection to devices will be done via an Intel Compute Card slot with a new standard connector (USB-C plus extension)
  • USB-C plus extension connector will provide USB, PCIe, HDMI, DP and additionalsignals between the card and the device
  • 94.5 mm x 55 mm x 5 mm
The Intel Compute Card will be available in mid-2017 and will come with 7th gen Intel Core Kaby Lake processor options.
