New TAG Heuer smartwatch with Android Wear 2.0 coming in May

TAG Heuer forayed into the smartwatch market with the launch of  the luxury $1500 Connected Android Wear smartwatch back in November 2015. Now the Swiss watch manufacturer is gearing up to launch its successor later this year with a number of improvements.

TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver in an interview with German Publication Neue Zurcher Zeitung said that the company will release an Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch in May 2017.

Biver further revealed the company's upcoming smartwatch will be made in two sizes (for men and a smaller version for women) in different color and finishes, pack better hardware and feature improved display, Intel processor, NFC (for payment function), more accurate GPS and a longer battery life.

The TAG Heuer head also reported that the company's first smartwatch Connected was a huge success, having sold over 56,000 units in a span of 14 months, which is much higher than the expected targeted of 20,000 units. TAG Heuer's new goal is to sell 150,000 units of smartwatch in 2017
