Samsung gets into game mode with Notebook Odyssey


Besides new Chromebook, Samsung also introduced its first gaming laptop at CES 2017 dubbed Notebook Odyssey. Samsung is offering the Notebook Odyssey with 17.3-inch and 15.6-inch screen options with Full HD wide-view angle display and is powered by Intel's Core i7 Kaby Lake processor (45W). 

As it's a gaming laptop, they include HexaFlow vents to cool and ventilate the system. These vents are located at the the bottom and can be removed to upgrade storage and RAM.

The 17-inch model can support up to 64GB DDR4 RAM and up to 512GB PCIe SSD and a 1TB HDD. It includes a Type-C Thunderbol3 port, 4 x USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, LAN, microSD card reader, mic and a 93Wh battery.

The 15.6-inch model has support for up to 32GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB PCIe SSD and a 1TB HDD. It packs NVIDIA GTX 1050 GPU with options of 2GB or 4GB dedicated RAM. The laptop comes with a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, HDMI, LAN, microSD card reader, HP & mic combo and  a 43Wh battery, rated to deliver up to eight hours of battery life.

The laptop's keyboard sports ergonomically curved keycaps (0.5mm volcano keycaps on the 17.3-inch, 0.3mm crater keycaps on the 15.6-inch,) and backlit WASD keys (WASD keys are available on the 15.6’ model only) to provide users with optimal interaction. For personalization and easy access to crucial keys, users can also choose the backlit color of individual keycaps on the 17.3-inch model.

Samsung did not reveal the pricing and availability details.
