Sony launches world's fastest SD card in India


Sony is launching the "world's fastest SD Card", the SF-G Series in India starting at Rs. 6,700. The SF-G series SD cards offer read/write speeds of 300Mbps and 299Mbps respectively, which the company claims to be the fastest ever offered by a SD card.

The SF-G series SD cards comes with 32GB (SF-G32/T1), 64GB (SF-G64/T1) and 128GB (SF-G128/T1) capacities priced at Rs. 6,700, Rs. 11,000 and Rs. 19,900 respectively.

The company says that the SF-G series SD cards are fast enough to support continuous shooting of high-res images with high performance DSLR and mirrorless cameras supporting the UHS-II interface. Sony was able to achieve such speeds using Sony's algorithm that "prevents decrease of data-writing speed and contribute to the camera's ability for successive high speed shooting". 

The SF-G cards are also shock proof, water proof, temperature resistant and X-ray proof.

Sony also launched a high-speed SD memory card reader called MRW-S1, for use with the SF-G series priced at Rs. 2,300. It supports both UHS-II and USBS 3.1 Gen 1 interface.
