Acer's Predator Helios 300 is a new line of budget gaming notebooks


Besides the ultrathin and powerful high-end Predator Triton 700, Acer at its global event in New York also introduced a budget Predator series gaming notebook called Predator Helios 300 at Acer's global press conference in New York. The company says, the predator Helios 300 offers powerful innards at mid-range price point, making gaming notebooks accessible than ever.

Acer will offer the Predator Helios 300 in 15.6 or 17.3-inch Full HD IPS display models with the option of 7th Gen Intel Core i7 (7700HQ) or Core i5 (7300HQ) processor, an overclockable NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or 1050Ti graphics card and up to 16GB DDR4 RAM (upgadable to 32GB). For storage, it will house 1TB HDD and speed SATA SSD. Also there's an access compartment doors on the bottom of the notebooks to make it easy to upgrade memory and storage.

The gaming notebook has a USB 3.1 Type-C port, a USB 3.0 port, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, 2x2 802.11ac for wireless connectivity, and Gigabit Ethernet for wired connection. It also comes with Dolby Audio Premium and Acer TrueHarmony to deliver immersive audio with crisp, rich acoustics.

Running Windows 10, the Predator Helios 300 sports a matte black chassis with red accents and comes with an iron red backlit keyboard. Selected model will have a metal top cover and keyboard area for added strength and rigidity. 

Like the Triton 300, to keep the system running at optimal temperatures while playing games, Acer has fitted a dual-fan system called AeroBlade 3D Fan, with ultra-thin metal blades. It also comes pre-loaded with Acer's PredatorSense software to provide real-time system information and overclocking, for montoring  and controlling the system's vital from one central interface.

The Predator Helios 300 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch gaming notebook models will be available in North America in July starting at $1299 and $1399 respectively; in EMEA in August starting at €1,199; and in China starting at CNY 1199 in July.
