Xiaomi India to launch new Redmi smartphone on May 16
Over the past few days, Xiaomi India has been teasing the launch of Redmi 4. Now the Chinese smartphone maker has scheduled an event for May 16 to launch the budget smartphone. It has also confirmed that the phone will be exclusive to Amazon India.
It is not yet clear which Redmi 4 will be launched in the country, because there are many variants including Redmi 4, Redmi 4S/4S Prime and Redmi 4X. The brand previously launched the Redmi 4A, which offered entry-level specs, but the new Redmi device is most likely to pack beefy specs.
The new Redmi 4 phone is expected to come with 5-inch screen with HD/Full HD resolution, Snapdragon 6XX or 4XX series chip, 2GB/3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB expandable storage, 13MP/5MP cameras, 4G VoLTE and 4000mAh battery. It is also likely to have a fingerprint scanner, which was missing on Redmi 4A. The pricing is rumored to be Rs. 8,000.
With the new Redmi 4, Xiaomi will be looking forward to take the Indian smartphone market by storm, after the sucess of Redmi 3, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4A. Currently Xiaomi is the second largest smartphone vendor in the country.
