Apple announces new iPad Pro 10.5, updated iPad Pro 12.9 with A10X processor

Aside from the new iMac AIOs and upgraded MacBook, Apple at its WWDC 2017 conference also announced two new iPad Pro tablets. These include a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro and an upgraded 12.9-inch iPad Pro featuring the world’s most advanced display with ProMotion technology, the powerful new A10X Fusion chip and the advanced camera system of iPhone 7.

The new 10.5-inch iPad replaces the 9.5-inch model, and sports narrow bezels that reduces the borders by nearly 40 percent, to fit into a compact package. It weighs just 469g.

The iPad Pro 10.5-inch (2224 x 1668 pixel) and 12.9-inch (2732 x 2048 pixel) screen models sports advanced Retina display with ProMotion technology, that delivers refresh rates of up to 120GHz for fluid scrolling, greater responsiveness and smoother motion content. It also improves Apple Pencil’s performance (latency down to 20ms) for even more fluid and natural drawing.

The new 64-bit A10X Fusion chip has six-core CPU and 12-core GPU, delivering up to 30 percent faster CPU performance, and up to 40 percent faster graphics performance, than the A9X chip, while offering a full day battery life.

Apple will offer the new iPads with the option of 64GB, 256GB and 512GB storage variants. The new iPads have 12MP rear camera, same as iPhone 7, and features f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilisation (OIS), six-element lens, quad-LED True Tone flash and 4K video recroding. On the front there's 7MP FaceTime HD camera.

Other features include four speaker audio system, external keyboard support, WiFi 802.11ac, 4G LTE (optional), Touch ID fingerprint sensor and up to 10 hours of battery life. The new iPads run iOS 11, and comes with a handful of new features.

The new iPad 10.5-inch Pro WiFi model with 64GB, 256GB and 512GB storage is priced at $649, $749 and $949, while the LTE model with 64GB, 256GB and 512GB storage costs $779, $879 and $1079 respectively. It comes in Space Grey, Rose Gold, Gold and Silver colors.

The new 12.9-inch iPad Pro WiFi model with 64GB, 256GB and 512GB storage versions has been priced at $799, $899 and $1099, and for the LTE model the prices are $929, $1029 and $1229 for the 64GB, 256GB and 512GB storage variants respectively. It will be offered in Space Grey, Gold and Silver hues.

The new iPad Pro tablets will be available in the U.S and 37 countries and regions next week, and will be available in India later this month.
