Bezel-less Mi MIX 2 coming later this year: Xiaomi CEO

Back in February, Xiaomi confirmed that work has begun on the successor of the bezel-less Mi MIX smartphone. Now Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun took to China's popular social networking platform to confirm that Mi MIX 2 will be arriving sometime later this year. To recall, the Mi MIX was announced in November 2016, so the Mi MIX 2 could be announced around the same time.

Jun also reaffirmed that designed Phillipe Starck, who previously worked on the Mi MIX, will be collaborating with Xiaomi again for the Mi MIX 2.

According to earlier reports, the Mi MIX 2 will have a screen to body ratio of 93 percent, which will make the bezel more  thinner, when compared to Mi MIX's 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. It will stick with the same ceramic design, is expected to sport curved AMOLED display, instead of LCD.

The Mi MIX had its fingerprint scanner located at the back. But according to rumors, Mi MIX 2 will feature an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which will be hidden under the display.

As for the specification, the Mi MIX 2 is expected to come with Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB/8GB RAM, dual-cameras, beefy battery capacity and IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
