Reliance Jio tops chart in 4G download speeds in May


Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released speed test results of the country's telecom operators for May. The latest real time data collected by TRAI's MySpeed app and Analytics Portal shows that Reliance Jio's 4G download speed is the fastest among top telecom operators in the country.

According to TRAI, Reliance Jio offered download speeds of 19.123 Mbps to top the download speeds. This has been the case since February 2017, where the 4G download speed stood at 16.847 Mbps, and the following month March, at 18.47 Mbps.

As for the other telecom operator's download speed, Idea Cellular was second at 13.709 Mbps, Vodafone at 13.387 MBps and Airtel comes last at 10.153 Mbps.

Even though, Reliance Jio topped the download speeds chart, it is lagging behind in 4G upload speeds. Idea Cellular leads the race for upload speeds in May with 8.459 Mbps, followed by Vodafone at 7.333 Mbps, Jio at 5.275 Mbps and Airtel at 4.641 Mbps.

It's worth mentioning that the data provided above represents the average of tge data speed samples collected from various consumers of the TSPs on a crowd sourcing bases during speed test initiated by them.

At the moment Reliance Jio is the fourth largest telecom operator in the country with over 100 million subscriber.
