Sony India launches WS263 sports Walkman for Rs. 8,990


Sony has launched WS623 Walkman in India, a wireless headphone that doubles as MP3 player. Aimed at sports enthusiasts, the device is IP65/IP68 rated for water and dust resistance, making it suitable for outdoor conditions and sporting activities.

It is also swim-proof and salt waterproof as well, so you can swim with the Walkman for up to a depth of 2 meters with up to 30 minutes submerged time. It's earbuds are also waterproof and covered with a thin film to prevent water damage to the device.  It has been optimized for sound levels for underwater listening and can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from 5°C to 45°C. The new Walkman comes with a mode called Ambient Sound, that uses the in-built microphones to pick up external voices and sounds in the surrounding environment.


The Walkman supports Bluetooth and NFC for streaming music from smartphone. Furthermore, Bluetooth connectivity also lets you answer calls from your smartphone. It also includes 4GB inbuilt storage for storing music on-board. Sony promises up to 12 hours of battery life and a 3 minute charge gives you up to 60 minutes of playback.

It also comes with a splash-proof Bluetooth remote control, that you can attach to your finger or wrist, to take calls and change tracks.

The Sony WS623 Walkman is priced at Rs. 8,990 and will be available through all Sony Center stores across the country starting June 15.
