Sony Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra now receiving Android Nougat


The Sony Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra, that were launched last year running Android Marshmallow, has finally got the taste of Nougat.

The Android Nougat update for Xperia XA is now live with  firmware number 33.3.A.0.127 across all five variants including F3111,F3113, F3115 single-SIM models, as well as F3112, F3116 dual-SIM models.

The update for Xperia XA Ultra has the firmware number 36.1.A.0.179, and is available for F3211, F3212 and F3213 variants. As the roll out widens, other variants are expected to get the update as well.

As usual you'll be notified about the update automatically, when it's available or you can do a manual check by going to settings>about phone> system update. You can even update it through Sony's Xperia Companion available for PCs and Mac.

Unfortunately not many details are known about the changes, but going by Sony's previous Nougat update, it will include latest security patches and features like multi-window support, improved battery life, Sony's new messaging app, Google Now integration with Xperia home screen, and more.

In case you're interested to know the specs, againg, the Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra are Sony's mid-range smartphones. 

The Xperia XA features 5-inch HD display, octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 13MP/8MP cameras, dual-SIM, 4G LTE, NFC and 2300mAh battery. It is currently available for around Rs. 14,000 (launch price: 20,990).

The Xperia XA Ultra on the other hand boasts 16MP selfie camera with Sony Exmor R sensor, OIS for shake free selfies and LED flash. It's other specs include 6-inch Full HD display, octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB storage, 21MP main camera, dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, NFC and 2700mAh battery. Currently it is retailing for about Rs. 22,00 (launch price: 29,990).
