HMD again confirms Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 will get Android Oreo


HMD Global has already confirmed that Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8, which ship with Android Nougat will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo. Now the brand has again reaffirmed that these devices will get Android Oreo. A time frame is still not know, but we can expect the roll out to happen before the year ends.

The latest information comes from HMD Global's Chief Product offices, Juho Sarvikas who took to Twitter to make the announcement. “All of our smartphones will upgrade to Oreo, Nokia 3 included. No comments yet on timing so that I don’t get into trouble,” read his Tweet.

This is no surprise, given that the Nokia phones are new in the market and runs near Stock Android. The company has also been rolling out timely monthly security updates as well, the same day Google releases them.

To recap, Android 8.0 Oreo brings new features to the user interface as well as under the hood like picture-in-picture (PIP) mode for multi-tasking, Instant apps, limiting background processes to improve battery life, improved auto-fill, notifications dots, adaptive icons, Google Play Protect, new emoji, downloadable fonts, TextView auto-sizing, sorting notifications through categories, Notification snoozing and more. 

The Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 are already available for purchase in India, with the Nokia 8 yet to be released. The Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 are priced at Rs. 9,499 and Rs. 12,899 and available through offline store. The Nokia 6 is exclusively available online on Amazon India for Rs. 14,999.
