Two year old Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 gets Android Nougat
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 was announced back in 2015 running Android Lollipop and later got an upgrade to Marshmallow. Earlier this month it was spotted on WiFi Alliance and Geekbench running Android Nougat, indicating the tablet would get Nougat.
Now Samsung has finally started rolling out Android Nougat to the Galaxy Tab A 9.7, and the Android version has been bumped straight to Android 7.1.1. The tablet is Samsung's first device to jump from Android 6.0.1 to 7.1.1. This should be the last major Android upgrade for the tablet, as it is more than two year old.
The Nougat update is rolling out in several regions across Europe such as Spain, Italy, Hungary, Ireland and Germany, and will soon be available in other countries across the globe as well. It is seeding over-the-air, and if you've been not notified about it yet, do a manual check by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Update.
