Google Assistant reportedly coming to Chromebooks
Google Assistant debut last year alongside the Pixel phones, and since then has made it way to more products and platform such as devices running Android 6.0+, smart speaker, Android Wear, and most recently headphones and Android TV. Now it looks like Google Assistant support will expand to Chromebooks.
According to 9to5Google, the Google Home's app Chat with your Assistant section now lists Chromebook as a supported device alongside Google Home, Allow, Android and iOS devices. Apart from the listing, there's also a Chromebook icon, right next to the icon of Google Home and smartphones, indicating the arrival of Google Assistant on Chromebooks.
This is not the first time we're hearing that Google Assistant is coming to Chromebook. Previously ChromeOS dedicated blog Chromebox reported that Google's new Pixelbook will feature a hardware button or keyboard shortcut to trigger Google Assistant.
Google has an event on October 4 to announce new hardware products including Pixel 2 phones, Google Home Mini, new Daydream VR headset and Pixelbook. Along with the new Pixelbook, we can expect Google to reveal new features of ChromeOS, and Google Assistant support will most likely be one of them.
