Gionee outs 1GB RAM and 3GB RAM variants of the F103 in India


Gionee joined the "Make in India" initiative in October this year, and the company's first device to be assembled in India was the F103. Initially, Gionee launched the 2GB RAM variant in India priced at Rs. 9,999. Now, Gionee has outed two more RAM variants- 1GB RAM and 3GB RAM of the F103. Apart from RAM, rest of the specs remain unchanged.

The Gionee F103 is 7.9mm thick and sports a mirror glass back and a metal frame. It has dual-SIM slots and supports 4G LTE connectivity, including support for 4G LTE bands (TDD B40 2300MHz and FDD B3 1800MHz) for India. The device runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with Amigo UI 3.1 on top.

Specwise, the Gionee F103 features 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display with Dragontrail Glass protection and is equipped with 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor with Mali-T720 GPU and 1GB/2GB/3GB RAM. On-board storage is 16GB, expandable via microSD card up to 32GB. For imaging there is 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 5-megapixel front facing camera. In addition to 4G LTE, there is also support for 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. It is fueled by 2400mAh battery.

The Gione F103, 1GB RAM vairant is priced at Rs. 8,999 and the 3GB RAM variant costs 10,999. It comes in Pearl White, Dawn White and Black colors.

Commenting on the launch of the F series, Mr. Timir Baran Acharyya, GM, Gionee India said-

“We have shipped almost 2,16,700 units from the time we have introduced the Fashion Series in the Indian market. Design, supported with features has become an essential element for consumers when they buy phones. With our F series, we have achieved to get both design and performance in one device, for our consumers get the best of both worlds. Hence, we have introduced two more variants for F103, i.e. in 1GB and 3GB RAM which will ensure an even superior experience for consumers, while keeping the style quotient intact.”

Gionee begins ‘Make in India’ journey with F103 smartphone


Gionee at its event in the Indian port city of Vishakapatnam, unveiled the Gionee F103, its first 'Made in India' phone manufactured  by Foxconn in Siri City, Andhra Pradesh. The Gionee F103 was unveiled in the presence of AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

 The Gionee F103 features 5-inch 720p IPS display with Dragontrail glass proctection and is equipped with 1.3GHz quad-core processor with Mali-T720 GPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage. There is an 8-megapixel camera at the back with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. On the front there is a 5-megapixel shooter. The device runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, has dual-SIM slots, supports 4G LTE and is fueled by 2400mAh battery. Priced at Rs. 9,999, it comes in Pearl White, Dawn White and Black Colors

Gionee at the event said that it has sold over 7 Million devices in the country so far and is looking forward to double sales in 2015-2016, backed by the support of Indian manufacturing. The company will be investing $50 million over next three years for its Make in India plan.

“I am really happy to welcome Gionee in Andhra Pradesh. We will ensure that the company faces no hurdles in its Make in India initiative and will provide all the support,” said the Chief Minister. “By 2020, electronics and hardware demand will be worth $400 billion in the country. Mobile phones will account for 38 per cent of this hardware demand. With so many companies starting their manufacturing journey in Sri City within a year, going forward I can assure Andhra Pradesh will become the hardware manufacturing hub. We are aiming to create the best ecosystem for local manufacturing with special emphasis on the necessary skill development,” added Mr. Naidu.

Last month, Gionee announced its plans to manufacture their phones in India. The company partnered with Foxconn to manufacture its F and P series phones at the Siri City facility and F103 is the first from the stable. Gionee has also teamed up with Dixon to manufacture feature phones and other smartphones at its Delhi-NCR facility.
 

“Going forward we are looking at nurturing a local ecosystem for hardware manufacturing. We are helping several vendors to come to India. We have already invested Rs 300 crores in local manufacturing and will invest more in future to boost R&D for local software,” said Arvind Vohra, Country CEO & MD, Gionee India. 

“We would be working towards making India a manufacturing hub for not just local consumption but also for nearby countries. Also, with local manufacturing, we are now keen on making India centric products,” said William Lu, President, Gionee.

Gionee F103 launched in India for Rs. 9,999

Gionee has launched F103, a new smartphone in the new fashion and lifestyle f series for the Indian market. The phone sports a premium design with mirror glass finish rear panel and is just 7.9mm thick. 

Gionee F103 features 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display with Dragontrail glass proctection. Inside there is an 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor further aided by Mali T720 GPU and 2GB RAM. On-board storage is 16GB and there is no microSD card support. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with Amigo UI 3.1 on top.

Camerawise, it sports 8-megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and on the front sits a 5-megapixel shooter for clicking selfies. On the connectivity front the phone supports 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It is fueled by 2400mAh battery and comes in Pearl White, Dawn White and Black colors.

The phone supports 4G LTE bands (TDD B40 2300MHz and FDD B3 1800MHz) for India.

Gionee F103 is priced Rs. 9,999 and will go on sale soon in the country. It will be competing against Lenovo K3 Note, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and Motorola Moto G Gen 3, all 4G LTE phones in the Indian market.
