Western Digital has launched SanDisk Dual Drive in India with up to 128GB storage capacity, and starting price of Rs. 700.
The SandDisk Dual Drive has micro-USB connector on one side, and USB 2.0 port on the other, and lets you easily transfer files from Android devices to PC or Mac. It's worth mentioning that the pen drive is compatible with Android devices that support USB OTG (on-the-go).
There's also a dedicated app called Memory Zone 3.0 that lets you manage the pen drive's content. It feature an aggregated view of all content, timeline based photo browser, integrated video and music player, and built-in file compression and decompression capabilities.
The SandDisk comes in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage capacities, and are priced at Rs. 700, Rs. 1,150, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 3,000. respectively. They are available from retail outlets across the country.
However, the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB Dual Drive are available online at reduced price of Rs. 549/Rs. 639 (Flipkart/Amazon India), Rs. 915 and Rs. 1,799 respectively.
Western Digital at IFA 2017, launched the world's highest capacity 400GB microSD card. Additionally it introduced iXpand Base, a 2-in-1 portable charger and back up device for iPhone users. It will be offered with up to 256GB local storage
The iXpand Base lets you automatically back up contents including photos, videos and contacts from iPhone, while the phone is charging (15W charging is supported). This is the perfect device for users who don't prefer backing up iPhone contents to the iCloud. Another advantage is that you can put it in your bag, and carry it around as well.
Sandisk says the iXpand Base "gives consumers plenty of room to automatically save files in their original quality, with no need to pay monthly fees for cloud-based storage"
You can transfer and restore files directly from the iXpand Base to a PC using USB cable, or access them on iPhone through the companion SanDisk iXpand Base app, and back up the files while charging.
The device has a soft rubber top to place the iPhone, and a wrap-around groove to keep the Lightning cable tidy and organized. It weighs 189.66g.
The SandDisk iXpand Base comes in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options priced at $49.99 (Rs. 3,100), $99.99 (Rs. 6,300), $129.99 (Rs. 8,300) and $199.99 (Rs. 12,700) respectively. Western Digital has introduced the world's highest capacity microSD card called SanDisk Ultra 400GB microSDXC card. It boasts transfer speeds of up to 100MB/s or more 1,200 photos per minute, or can store up to 40 hours of Full HD videos.
The company says it was able to pack that much capacity in a tiny form factory using Sandisk's memory technology and design and production process for more bits per die.
The new 400GB microSD card is aimed at smartphone and tablet users who are heavy on photos, videos, offline content and apps. The card meets Application Performance Class 1 (A1) specification, which means it can loads app faster. Most of the flagship devices that support up to 2TB of expandable storage, should support the card.
The 400GB SandDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card is priced at $249.99 and is available in the U.S from SanDisk.com and other major retailers. It is backed by a ten-year limited warranty.
Western Digital has announced My Book Duo external desktop storage system with 20TB storage, the highest capacity system it has ever made. With such capacity you'll be able to store colossal amounts of contents in one location.
The RAID-optimized storage system delivers speeds of up to 360 MB/s sequential reads. It houses a USB Type-C port (supports USB 3.1 Gen 1/3.0/2.0) and two additional USB 3.0 Type-A hub ports for connecting additional accessories, including drones, action cameras, card readers, keyboards, mice, USB drives or phone syncing and charging. The retail box will include both USB Type-C to Type-C and Type-C to Type-A cables.
It also comes with password protection and 256-bit AES hardware encryption with WD Security software built in to help keep private content secure.
The 20TB version of My Book Duo storage system is not cheap and will set you back by $849.99. Western Digital is also selling 16TB, 12TB, 8TB, 6TB and 4TB versions as well.

Western Digital has announced new USB-C external hard drive with built in battery in its G-Drive series called 'G-Drive USB-C'. The company says the new drive is designed keeping "creative enthusiasts" in mind and features high-capacity storage with USB-C connectivity, which is also capable of charging USB Type-C devices simultaneously.
The G-Drive will be available in capacities of 4TB, 8TB and 10TB and features USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface with USB-C connector, that can provide up to 195MB/s in transfer speeds. It works with Apple's MacBook and MacBook Pro out of the box, but can also be reformatted for Windows PCs.
The device ships with a USB-C to USB-A cable to connect with traditional PCs with USB-A connector. It is compatible with computers featuring a ThunderboltTM 3, USB 3.1 Gen 1, USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 interface.
Thanks to USB Power Delivery support, the G-Drive provides up to 45 watts of charging capability through the USB-C port to compatible devices like MacBook or MacBook Pro, or Windows 10 PCs with USB Type-C port without the need of a separate charger.

Western digital has been selling cheap and portable external hard drives for years, but it has never released a portable SSD (solid state drive).
Now the company is launching its first WD brand portable super-fast SSD drive called My Passport SSD.
The new SSD drive offers speeds of up to 515 MB/s and is designed for the latest generation of desktops with USB Type-C port. It is USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10GB/s) ready with a USB Type-C to Type-C cable. There's also an adapter to use with the more tradition USB Type-A ports found on many computers.
It is compatible with Windows 10 PCs, and Mac, and features 256-bit AES hardware encryption and password protection. It is also designed to withstand drops of up to 6.5 foot, making it shock resistant.
Western Digital's My Passport SSD will be available in 1TB, 512GB and 256GB capacities priced at $399.99, $199.99 and $99.99 respectively, and is backed by three year warranty. It will be available in the U.S from BestBuy, and worldwide at select e-tailers and retailers this quarter.

SanDisk (owned by Western Digital) has unveiled a new SDXC card with a massive 1TB storage, the biggest SD card in the world. The new SD card is just a prototype at this point and will take some time before the final product is available for purchase in the market.
The 1TB microSD card, first of its kind, will be part of SanDisk's Extreme Pro series and is targeted at professional videographers and photographers, handling high resolution content. SanDisk says that 1TB card is necessary to match the increasing demand for high resolution content, such as 4K and 8K footage, 360-degree video, video surveillance and VR.
Back in 2014, SanDisk released its massive 512GB SDXC card, also the world's biggest at that time and was launched at a price tag of $800. "Sixteen years ago we introduced the first SanDisk 64MB SD card and today we are enabling capacities of 1TB" said the company.
Currently, the pricing and availability details are not known, but expect it to be very expensive.

Western Digital Corporation, leading developer and manufacturer of storage solutions announced it will acquire SanDisk Corporation, global
leader in flash storage solutions for a combination of cash and stock for about $19 billion.
The offer values SanDisk common stock at $86.50 per share or a total
equity value of approximately $19 billion, using a five-day volume
weighted average price ending on October 20, 2015 of $79.60 per share
of Western Digital common stock. The transaction has been approved by the boards of directors of both companies.
“With this transaction, Western Digital will
double its addressable market and expand its participation in
higher-growth segments,” said the company.
Western Digital also said that the long term Joint Venture with Toshiba that provides stable NAND supply will be ongoing. Steve Milligan will continue to serve as CEO of the
combined company, and the company will remain headquartered in Irvine,
California. Upon closing, current President and CEO of SandDisk Sanjay Mehrotra is expected to join the
Western Digital Board of Directors.
The deal is expected to close in the third calendar quarter of 2016.
