ZUK Z2 with 5-inch display, Snapdragon 820 SoC announced

Lenovo's sub-brand ZUK has has announced the ZUK Z2, a tonned down version of ZUK Z2 Pro in China. The phone sports an aluminum alloy body with 2.5D glass on front and back. It has a U-Touch 2.0 fingerprint sensor that is embedded in the home button and can unlock the phone in under 0.1 seconds.

The ZUK Z2 comes with 5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) LTPS 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by 2.15GHz quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor further aided by Adreno 305 GPU and 4GB RAM. On-board storage is 64GB, and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with ZUI 2.0 on top and the brand has promised Android N update.

For photography, it gets 13-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL rear camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, 0.1s fast dual focus (PDAF + CAF), EIS, and 1.32um pixel size. For selfies you get 8-megapixel camera. The dual-SIM phone supports 4G LTE (w/ VoLTE), WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, USB 2.0 Type-C connectivity. It is fueled by 3500mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support that can charge the phone up to 80% in 100 minutes.

The ZUK Z2 is priced at CNY 1799 ($273 | Rs. 18,370) and will be available for purchase in China from June 7. ZUK also introduced a USB Type-C wireless charger for the Z2 priced at CNY 299 ($45 | Rs. 3,000), that can be used with a charging cover.

ZUK Z2 launching on May 31, possible specs, images surface

After the launch of ZUK Z2 Pro, Lenovo's sub-brand ZUK is gearing up for the ZUK Z2 announcement. The ZUK Z2 will be a compact and affordable version of ZUK Z2 Pro, and will be unveiled in China on May 31. The brand has also shared a couple of teaser image for the ZUK Z2.

The teaser image reveals that ZUK Z2 will sport a metal frame, 2.5D glass display and have USB Type-C port.

Recently ZUK CEO Change Cheng revealed that the ZUK Z2 will be powered by Samsung's Exynos 8890 SoC, the same used in Galaxy S7 series. However the teaser image shows that ZUK Z2 will have Qualcomm's Snapdragon SoC, indicating that the brand has plan to release two variant of the Z2, depending on the market.

Meanwhile live images of ZUK Z2 has also surface online which is in line with the teaser images.
