New VAIO Phone with 5-inch display, Android Lollipop launched in Japan

VAIO Corporation in partnership with Japan communication has launched the company's first smartphone called VAIO Phone (VA-10J). It has a very flat glossy back and curved plastic sides. The company is calling it "simple and stylish"


The VAIO Phone feaures 5-inch (1280x720 pixels) HD IPS OGS display. It is powered by an 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU.

It houses 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and microSD card slot (up to 64GB microSD card supported). The device runs Andorid 5.0 Lollipop.

Camera features include 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording. On the front there is a 5-megapixel camera.

Connectivity features include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It is backed by 2500mAh built-in battery.

The VAIO Phone is priced at 51,000 yen ($420 | Rs. 26,326) and will be available in Japan from March 20. There is no informarion on international availability.

It is worth noting that, the VAIO Phone looks like a re-branded version of the recently launched Panasonic Eluga U2 with same design and identical specs. However, The Eluga U2 is priced at $250, $170 lesser than the VAIO phone.
