Acer Iconia One 8 B1-820 tablet announced starting at $149
Acer also announced a new budget tablet called the Iconia 8 (B1-820). The tablet comes with Precision Plus technology for highly accurate touch and writing experience. There is also an optional stylus available, which is ideal for writing and sketching. You can also use a 'fine tip 2mm pencil' to write and navigate.
The Iconia One 8 (B1-820) features 8-inch (1280 x 800 pixels)HD IPS display with Zero Air Gap technology and wide viewing angles. It also comes with Reading mode which reduces the blue light emission by up to 60 percent for less eye strain.
The tablet is powered by 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3735G processor paired with 1GB RAM and comes in two storage options - 16GB and 32GB (microSD card support). It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Camera features include 5-megapixel rear camera with 88-degree wide angle captures and 0.3-megapixel VGA front facing camera. It offers a battery life up to 8.5 hours. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0
The Iconia 8 weighs 355 grams, has a thickness of 9.5mm and will be available in 10 eye-catching color options. According to Acer the back of the tablet has a "textured crisscross pattern which provides a sophisticated cloth-like aesthetic and tactile feel for a secure grip"
It also comes with Acer's Iconia suite of touch application to simplify tasks with touch gestures and quick access icons. These include EZ Note (sketching out ideas or taking down notes in class), EZ Wakeup (wake up display by double tap), EZ Snap (take screenshot with three-finger pinch), EZ Gadget (multi-tasking) and System Doctor (free up and manage system memory and storage for lag-free performance).
The Acer Iconia 8 will be available in North America in July with prices starting at $149. It will be available in Europe, Middle East and Africa in April.
