Acer's TravelMate P648 is the ultimate professional road warrior


At CES 2016, Acer alongside the Aspire Switch 12 S 2-in-1 laptop also unveiled the TravelMate P648 Windows 10 laptop, the first in the market with Tri-band 802.11 ad support. It promises ten time faster speeds as compared to 802.11ac.

The Acer TravelMate P648 laptop sports 14-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display and supports up to 6th generation Intel Core i7 processor. The RAM options range from 4GB DDR4 RAM, all the way up to 20GB and comes with 512GB SSD storage or 1TB HDD. The graphics is handled by NVIDIA 840M GPU with dedicated 2GB RAM and runs Windows 10 Pro.

It comes with Thunderbolt 3 and USB C port for ultra-fast data transfer and can push two external4K display as well. For video calls there is HDR HD webcam with wide-view supports, dual microphones and two speaker, mute key and Acer Purified Voice to eliminate background noise. 

Other features include NFC support, 3 x USB 3.0 ports (one supporting power-off charging), HDMI port for connecting external display, full-sized chiclet keyboard, a fan to cool the system, Dust Defender Technology to safe guard from dust, Fingerprint reader and Kensington lock. Battery life of up to 8 hours is promised. 

There is also an optional Acer ProDock for connecting a vast array of peripherals including 2 x USB 3.0 ports, DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, VGA and Gigabit Ethernet.

The Acer TravelMate P648 laptop prices start at $800 in North America, €999 in Europe, Middle East and Africa, and CNY 6,999 in China. It will be available sometime in April.
