Huawei P9 Lite with 5.2-inch display, Kirin 650 SoC announced

Huawei after announcing the P9 and P9 Plus flagship smartphone with dual Leica lenses at an event in London, has showcased a tonned down model of the P9/P9 Plus in Russia dubbed P9 Lite. The P9 Lite comes with low processing power and single main camera as compared to P9/P9 Plus's Kirin 950 SoC and 12-megapixel Leica dual lens camera.

The Huawei P9 Lite sports a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and is powered by octa-core Huawei Kirin 650 processor with 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage, which can be increased up to 128GB via microSD card. It houses Hybrid Dual SIM slot (second SIM slot accepts microSD card or SIM card) and runs EMUI 4.1 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

For photography, the P9 Lite lacks the dual camera setup, instead gets a single 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 8-megapixel front snapper. For connectivity there is 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS and USB Type-C, and gets juice from a 3000mAh battery to run. It also has fingerprint scanner at the back, and stereo speakers at the bottom.

The Huawei P9 Lite comes in Sliver and Gold colors, and is expected to launch in Russia in June. There are no details on pricing and global availability of P9 Lite.
