Meizu MX5e with 16MP rear camera announced in China
Meizu has launched a toned down and slightly cheaper version of the Meizu MX5, the MX5e in China. The phone sports the same metal body with magnesium alloy frame as its predecessor and the mBack home button that doubles up as a fingerprint scanner. However, the difference is in the camera department.
The Meizu MX5e sports a 5.5-inch Full (1920 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6759T) 64-bit processor coupled with PowerVR G6200 GPU and 3GB RAM. It comes in two storage variants - 16GB or 32GB, and does not support storage expansion.
For imaging, it gets a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Laser Auto focus, 6P lenses and 4K video recording. The Meizu MX5 had a 20.7-megapixel Sony IMX220 rear camera. For snapping selfies and video calling there is 5-megapixel front camera on-board.
Connectivity duties are handled by 4G LTE (TD-LTE / LTE-FDD), 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. It runs Flyme OS 4.5 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, has dual SIM slots and is backed by 3500mAh battery with mCharge fast charging technology.
The Meizu MX5e is priced at CNY 1499 (Rs. 15,000 | $231) for the 16GB model, while the 32GB model costs CNY 1699 (Rs. 17,300 | $262). It comes in Gold, White or Silver color options and is currently available from Meizu online store in China.
