Google's Areo is a food delivery and home services app for India

Google has quietly released a new food delivery and local home service app in India called Areo. The app lets you order food or schedule appointments with home maintenance services like electrician, plumber, carpenter or professional services like pest control, fitness instructor and beautician.

Google Areo does not have its own service network to deliver food or offer home services. Instead the app bundles together different services from various sources. For instance, in Oreo's food delivery section, you can order food from services like Faasos, Freshmenu and Box8. For home maintenance services and professional services, it shows suggestions from UrbanClap.

When you open the Areo app, the first screen shows you a map view and asks you to set your location. After setting the location, the app shows you various services available in your area from different categories like food delivery, home maintenance and more. You can add the required services to the cart and once done make the payment.

Payment options include credit card, debit card, net banking, and even directly  Cash on delivery. Google is also offering Rs. 200 discount on food deliveries for a limited period.

Areo is available for download on Google Play Store, and is currently operational in Mumbai and Bangalore.
