Honor announces two Play Tab 2 tablets with Android Nougat


Alongside the budget Honor 6A smartphone and Honor Band A2 fitness tracker, Huawei sub-brand Honor also announced a new tablet called Honor Play Tab 2.  The tablet comes in two screen models, one with 8-inch screen, and the other with 9.6-inch screen. 

It's worth mentioning that, the Honor Play Tab 2 is basically a rebranded Huawei MediaPad T3 8 and MediaPad T3 10 for the China market packing the same design and specs, but has Honor branding.

The Honor Play Tab 2 8 and 9.6-inch models features HD (1200 x 800 pixels) display, Snapdragon 425 chip, 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and 4800mAh battery. They run Android Nougat based EMUI 5.1 and supports 4G LTE connectivity (optional) and has dual-SIM slots. They also come with a special Kids Mode, with its own app store and parental control features. 



Honor will offer the Play Tab 2 8- and 9.6-inch models in two variants: 2GB RAM with 16GB storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage with the option of WiFi or LTE connectivity. The storage is expandable via microSD card.

Both tablet sports sandblasted aluminum body with a thickness of 7.95mm, and comes in Gray and Silver hues. The 8-inch model weighs 350g, while the 9.6-inch model weighs in at 460g.

The Honor Play Tab 2 will go on sale in China starting June 1, and the pricing is as follows:

  • Honor Play Tab 2 8-inch model 2GB RAM + 16GB storage + LTE CNY 999 ($145 | Rs. 9,400)
  • Honor Play Tab 2 8-inch model 3GB RAM + 32GB storage + LTE CNY 1299 ($188 | Rs. 12,000)
  • Honor Play Tab 2 9.6-inch model 2GB RAM + 16GB storage + WiFi CNY 999 ($145 | Rs. 9,400)
  • Honor Play Tab 2 9.6-inch model 2GB RAM + 16GB storage + LTE CNY 1299 ($188 | Rs. 12,000)
  • Honor Play Tab 2 9.6-inch model 3GB RAM + 32GB storage + LTE CNY 1499 ($217 | Rs. 14,000)
