Google is out with the Android distribution numbers for December and as per the latest data, Android Oreo jumped up slightly to 0.5 percent, an increase of mere 0.2 percent than 0.3 percent in November.
The latest number is not mind-boggling, but given that there are more than billion of Android devices out there and official Oreo started rolling out two months ago, the increase is significant. For comparison sake, during the same period last year, when Nougat was the latest iteration of Android, it was only present in 0.4 percent of active devices.
Speaking of the other Android versions, Nougat adoption rate climbed from 20.6 percent in November to 23.3 percent in December, an increase of 2.7 percent, while Marshmallow's lost 1.2 percent share of the pie, and is now present on 29.7 percent of active Android devices as compared to November's 30.9 percent. Marshmallow is the still the most widely adapted version of Android.
Android Lollipop adoption in November was 27.7 percent, but as per December's stats it lost 1.4 percent of the pie, and is now running on 26.3 percent devices.
As for the outdated operating system, KitKat is now present on 13.4 percent devices (13.8 percent in November), Jelly Bean on 5.9 percent (6.2 percent in November), and lastly, Ice Cream Sandwhich and Gingerbread stand at 0.5 percent and 0.4 percent respectively.

Another month, and Google has released the updated Android distribution numbers for the month of October. And the big news is that Oreo has finally made its debut in the chart. On the other hand Nougat is rising steadily, and other Android versions continue on the decline. However, Marshmallow continues to be the most widely-used Android version.
According to the latest number Android Oreo is now running on just 0.2 percent of active devices. The number is small, but is not surprising given that only Google's Nexus and Pixel devices are running Oreo, and there are a billion non-Google devices out there. The numbers are likely to rise in the coming months.

As for the other Android versions, Kitkat now sits at 14.5 percent (down from 15.1 percent), Jelly Bean is at 6.6 percent (down from 6.9 percent) and Gingerbread still at 0.6 percent (same as last month).

Another month, and Google is out with updated Android distribution numbers for the month of September. As per the latest figures, Nougat continues to gain this month, Marshmallow is on the decline, but is still the most widely-used Android version, and there's no sighting of the latest Oreo yet, but it can be expected to debut next month.
Starting with Nougat, it is now running on 15.8 percent of active devices out there, an increase of 2.5 percent than last months 13.5 percent share. This can be further broken down as 14.2 percent for 7.0 Nougat and 1.6 percent for 7.1 Nougat.
Android Marshmallow, which was present on 32.3 percent devices last month, had a slight drop of 0.1 percent to 32.2 percent. As for the other Android versions, Lollipop dropped down to 28.8 percent from last month's 29.2 percent share (down 0.4 percent), while KitKat adoption rate stands at 15.1 percent, compared to last months 16 percent, down 0.9 percent.
The outdated Jelly Bean (4.1.x, 4.2.x and 4.3.x) has 6.9 percent of the share, down 0.7 percent, when compared to last months 7.6 percent. Lastly, Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread dropped 0.1 percent from 0.7 percent, and are now present in 0.6 percent devices.

Google has released the Android distribution data for the month of August, and as per the latest numbers Nougat is picking up pace in terms of adoption, ahead of Android O release.
Android Nougat now runs on 13.5 percent, up two percent compared to last month 11.5 percent share. This can be further broken down as 12.3 percent for Nougat v.7.0, and 1.2 percent for Nougat v7.1.
Marshmallow (v6.0) is now present on most of devices, grabbing 32.3 percent share of the pie, a rise of 0.5 percent compared to last month's 31.8 percent. However, all other Android versions saw a decline.
Lollipop which was running on 30.1 percent of active Android devices, lost 0.9 percent share of the pie, and is now present on 29.2 percent devices. Android 4.4 KitKat also declined from last month's 17.1 percent to 16 percent, a drop of 1.1 percent share.
The outdated versions, Android Jelly Bean (4.1, 4.2, 4.3) had a combined share of 7.6 percent, down 0.5 percent, than last months 8.1 percent share. Lastly Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread distribution numbers remained unchanged at stayed at 0.7 percent.

Google has released its monthly Android distribution data for the month of March. The Android distribution data were gathered by devices visiting Google Play Store, which only support Android 2.2 and above.
As per the latest data Android Nougat adoption has doubled and is now running on 2.8 percent of active devices, a significant 1.2 percent growth than February. The Nougat version 7.0 is present on 2.4 percent, while the v7.1.1 which is only present in Nexus and Pixel device has a share of just 0.4 percent.
It is believed that the growth took place mainly due to the fact that many Android Nougat based devices launched at MWC 2017, and moreover, most of the Samsung's popular Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge units received Nougat during the same period.
As for the other Android versions, Marshmallow saw a slight increase, up 0.6 percent to 31.3 percent compared to 30.7 percent in November. Lollipop is still on top with a 32.5 percent share of the pie, but it saw a decrease of 0.4 percent compared to February's 32.9 percent
Android KitKat is present on 20.8 percent of the device, compared to 21.9 percent last month, a decrease of 1.1 percent. The other older Android version Jelly Bean is running on 10.6 percent of active devices, which Ice Cream Sandwhich and Gingerbread are present on 1 percent of the devices.
