Fossil outs Diesel, Armani and Kate Spade hybrid smartwatches


Fossil has announced three new hybrid watch model from Diesel, Armani and Kate Spade at Baselworld 2016 event. The new hybrid smartphones sport a traditional watch design, but comes with a number of smart features including activity tracking, sleep tracking, notifications from smartphone, alarm and more.

All the new smartwatches are compatible with Android and iOS devices and come with companion apps for each brand on both platform. They have three buttons on the side for controlling the smart functions and feature coin-cell batteries that should last around six months.

The all-new Emporio Armani hybrid smartwatch collection will be available in Black, Gunmetal, Rose Gold and Stainless Steel finishes in three-piece link or leather strap. Prices start at $245 (Rs. 17,000).

The DieselOn Time collection has an industrial design and comes in a steel casing with five different color option for its strap. Prices start at $225 (Rs. 10,000).

The Kate Spade is aimed at women and will be available in Rose Gold/Black, Silver/Gray, Gold/Pale Pink hues. The collection comes with 18mm strap and the watches are water resistant. Prices start at $250 (Rs. 17,000).

The Deisel On Time and Emporio Armani watches will be available in select retailers starting end of 2016, while the Kate Spade hybrid smartwatch will be available on katespade.com and select retailer between the end of 2016 and early 2017.

Fossil Q Marshal, Q Wander Android Wear smartwatches launched in India


Fossil has made its debut in India's wearable market with two Q series Android Wear smartwatches — Q Marshal and Q Wander.

The Android and iOS compatible smartwatches comes with an always-on display and is available in 45mm size variant. They can be customized with different watch face designs including Fossil dials, and interchangable straps.

The Fossil Q Marshal features 1.4-inch (320 x 290 pixels) circular LED touchscreen display and is IP67 rated for water and dust resistance. It offers fitness tracking features, and access to time, calls, notifications and other information like flight details and reminders via Google Now cards from connected devices. 

The Q Marshal has Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB storage, WiFi, Bluetooth and is backed by 360mAh battery. It also support wireless charging.

The Fossil Q Wander is targeted at Women and specifications are similar to Q Marshal, but comes with a different design.

The Fossil Q Marshal is priced at Rs. 21,995 and comes in silver, Black and dark brown colors, while the Q Wander costs Rs.22,996 and comes in steel, light brown and rose gold colors. 
Both will be available on Flipkart, but the Q Wander can also be purchased from Amazon India as well.

In addition to Q series smartwatches, Fossil also launched the Micheal Kors Access smartwatches, Skagen wearables and Emporio Armani wearable in the country, which are priced between Rs. 9,995 and Rs. 27,995.

Fossil introduces Q Marshal & Q Wander smartwatches, Q Tailor & Q Nate analog watches, Q Motion activity tracker


US based watch and accessories brand Fossil has introduced a range of digital and analog smartwatches along with a new activity tracker. The list of the new products include Q Marshal and Q Wander smartwatches, Q Tailor and Q Nate Smart analog watches and Q Motion activity tracker.

The Q Marshal and Q Wander smartwatches runs Android Wear and comes in 44mm and 46mm circular cases and with a variety of body styles and strap options. They feature circular dials and sport an always-on display that gives you access to time, calls and notification from connected devices 24 x 7. The smartwatches also offers information about your flights and timely reminders via Google Now cards. They can be customized with watch faces, exclusive Fossil dials and interchangeable straps. Both the Q Marshal and Q Wander also support wireless charging, and are compatible with Android and iOS devices.


The Q Tailor and Q Nate Smart analog watches provides notification for incoming calls, messages and more when paired with Android and iOS devices via Bluetooth. They are also capable of tracking sleep patters, calories intake, steps taken and offer automatic time zone updates.


The Fossil Q Motion is an activity and sleep tracker that can track steps calories and sleep. It also alerts you for incoming calls, texts and other notifications from connected devices via LED lights or vibration. You can also use the activity tracker to remotely control music and take selfies for connected device. The activity tracker is water-resistant for up to 50 meters and promises six months of battery life.

Coming to the pricing, the Q Marshal and Q Wander smartwathces are priced at $275 (Rs. 18,500), and the Q Motion activity and sleep tracker costs $95 (Rs. 6,000), while there is no pricing details of Q Tailor and Q Nate. All the Fossil wearable products will be available later this year.

Fossil has also announced that it plans to launch 100 smart werable this year in partnership with other fitness brands including Chaps, Diesel, Emporio Armani, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Misfit, and Skagen.

Fossil Q54 Pilot is an analog watch with smart notifications


Fossil has added a new member to its recently launched Q Series of connected wearable device - the Q54 Pilot, an analog watch with colorful straps and LED indicators. Fossil also said that it plans to launch more than 100 connected devices by the end of the year.

Fossil's Q54 Pilot has no touch screen and you can't read phone notifications, instead, it relies on a built-in vibration motor to give you a nudge when you get a notification. There is also a series of colored LEDs to know who the notification if from.

The Q54 Pilot packs in motion sensors to double as an activity tracker to track steps, distance and calories burned. It also prompts you to complete weekly challenges.

The smartwatch is engineered with Intel innovation and is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 KitKat and up or iOS 8.2 and up. Fossil has also updated the Fossil Q app and now comes with new features including Enhanced Activity Reporting, better vibrations, more app support (Delta, Misfit, PayPal, Tinder and more) and additional language support.

The Fossil Q54 Pilot will be available in stores in early Spring and retails for $175-$215.

Fossil Group acquires wearable maker Misfit for $260 million


Watchmaker Fossil Group has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Misfit Inc., which creates various wearable and sleep trackers in addition to a health-tracking platform, for $260 million.

Sonny Vu, CEO of Misfit, will serve as president and chief technology officer of connected devices for Fossil Group, Inc., and will be a member of the company’s executive leadership team.

Fossil Group expects the acquisition to close before the end of fiscal 2015. The purchase price of $260 million, including transaction costs, will be funded through a combination of cash on hand and bank debt.

According to Fossil, the acquisition will enable the company to:
  • Own a technology platform that has already solved many of the hardest problems in wearables, including battery life.
  • Scale Misfit’s technology across Fossil, Skagen and a targeted portion of its portfolio of 16 brands in 2016, ultimately accelerating the company’s connected accessory roadmap.
  • Expand its addressable market with new distribution channels, new products, new brands and new enterprise partnerships, including music, fitness, healthcare and digital entities.
  • Lead in the connected devices space by harnessing the power of a world-class software and hardware engineering team spearheaded by Misfit Founder, Sonny Vu.
The announcement comes just weeks after Fossil introduced its Q Series of smart wearables. With the acquisition of Misfit, Fossil aims to expand its product offerings from traditional timepieces to connected wearable devices.

Fossil Q line of connected wearables announced


Fossil has been making watches since the 1980s. Now the popular watch brand has forayed into the smartwatch segment with launch of its first Android Wear-powered smartwatch alongside other wearables.

Fossil has announced its Fossil Q range of connected fashionable accessories comprised of two types of connected watches (both display and non-display)- Q Founder and Q Grant, and two styles of connected bracelets (one for men and one for women)- Q Dreamer and Q Revealer.

The entire Fossil Q range is powered by Intel and are compatible with Android devices with version 4.3 or higher or iPhone 5 and newer. They connect to the compatible device via Bluetooth (v4.1) and can be synced with all popular fitness app such as Google Fit, Health, UP by Jawbone and UA Record by Under Armour. All the wearable feature wireless charging base for wire-free charging. They also come with Fossil's proprietary app- Q Activity, Q Notification and Q Curiosity.

The Q Founder is the most premium product of the line up. It is powered by Android Wear and has customizable watch faces that you can change with a swipe and tap. It has built-in fitness tracker that will let you know how many calories you've burned, as well as providing results in a more intriguing way to make activities a bit more fun. Fossil says that the Q Founder was developed in collaboration with Intel and Google. Prices start at $275 (Rs. 18,000) and will be available just in time for the holiday shopping season.

The Q Grant is an ordinary watch with built in sensors. It can also track fitness, alert about emails, texts, incoming calls and app notification. It also has personalized colors for each of you contacts, so you will know who is calling or messaged you using LED indicators, located on both side of the watch. Prices start at $175-$195 and will be available starting October 25.

The Q Dreamer is a fitness tracker that you can wear as bracelet. It has vibrating alerts and color notifications for key contacts and apps, and comes with leather band or Silicone band option. Priced at $125, it will be available on October 25.

The Q Revealer is also a fitness tracker with vibrating alerts and color notifications. It will be available on October 25 and costs $125.

Fossil shows off its Intel-powered Android Wear watch


At Intel's Developer Forum 2015, Shenzhen, China, Fossil showcased its Android wear device, which is powered by Intel.

Fossils smartwatch has a circular face and sports a flat tire design just like the Moto 360. The power button is in the same 3 o' clock position. It does not have proper lugs so the bands can be changed easily.  The model shown off had a black leather strap and a fairly standard silver metallic finish. The actual details and specs were not revealed.

"Combining our fashion lifestyle brands with Intel's expertise in technology, hardware and innovation will position us to be a leader in this segment," said Kosta Kartsotis, CEO of Fossil Group.

In addition to the smartwatch, Fossil is also working on a connected bracelet and a connected watch that might not be powered by Android wear. All three wearable device will be a part of 'Fossil Connected Accessories'

Fossil is expected to reveal more details near the holiday season.
