Honor 8 Pro with Kirin 960, 6GB RAM breaks cover in Russia

Back in February, Huawei sub-brand Honor introduced the dual-camera toting Honor V9 in its home market of China. Now the phone is getting a global release starting with Russia under the moniker Honor 8 Pro. This is the fourth member and the most powerful of the Honor 8 line up, the others are Honor 8, Honor 8 Lite and Honor 8 Smart.

Nothing much has changed in the specs department of Honor 8 Pro, apart from the storage/RAM options. The Honor V9 was offered in multiple variants of 4GB RAM/64GB storage, 6GB RAM/64GB storage and 6GB RAM/128GB storage. But the Honor 8 Pro will come with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, according to Huawei Russia listing. It's not clear, whether other models will be available in the global market.

As mentioned earlier, the Honor 8 Pro boasts dual rear cameras, which is also the phone's USP. The dual camera lens is 12MP + 12MP setup with f/2.2 aperture, phase detection and laser autofocus, dual-LED flash, and 4K video recording. According to Honor dual cameras are capable of capturing great images in low-light condition and offer images with bokeh effect, thanks to the improved black and white sensor which takes up to 3 times more light. The cameras are also capable of capturing 3D creative photos, which can be used to make 3D prints.

Other specifications include 5.7-inch QHD (2K) display, octa-core Kirin 960 processor, 8MP front camera, fingerprint scanner, Android Nougat and 4000mAh battery. It also supports microSD card and dual-SIMs via the hybrid-dual SIM slots.

Design-wise the Honor 8 Pro sports an all-metal body with thickness of 7mm, and the phone comes in Aurora Blue, Platinum Gold and Midnight Black. There's also a Flame Red hue, but it's not listed on the website.

The Honor 8 Pro will be making its debut in Europe on April 5. The pricing is yet to be revealed, though the Honor 8 Pro (Honor V9 6GB/64GB model) sells in China for $436.
