KFC India in collaboration with Mountain Dew has launched a limited edition unique meal-box that doubles as a wireless gaming controller for your smartphone. Dubbed Gamer's Box 2.0, it has physical gaming controllers split into two and is attached to the left and right side of the box. The controller consists of an analog stick, D-pad, media keys and two trigger buttons. There's a slot on the top to mount your phone. And the phone pairs with the controllers on the meal box through Bluetooth, and there are LEDs to indicate the pairing is successful. The controller is compatible with devices running Android and iOS devices and can be charged using a normal smartphone charger. Unfortunately, only 10 Gamers Box 2.0 is up for grabs via a contest held by KFC and Mountain Dew. To win one, all you have to do is, log on to KFC India and Mountain Dew's Facebook, Twitter or Instagram page, and tag a friend that you feel deserves to win the Gamer Box 2.0. This is not the first time KFC is turning a meal box into a unique and whacky gadget. Back in 2016, it released Watt A Box, a box of chicken, that doubles as a charger. Earlier this month KFC marked its 30th anniversary in China, and in partnership with Huawei introduced limited-edition KFC Huawei Enjoy 7.
Huawei recently released the mid-range Enjoy 7 in China. Now the Chinese smartphone maker has teamed up with KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) and announced a special edition of Enjoy 7 to commemorate KFC's 30th anniversary in China. For a quick history lesson, KFC opened its first outlet in China a short distance from the Tiananmen Square in Beijing in November 1987, while in the same year Huawei, the world's third best smartphone brand was also founded.
The Enjoy 7 KFC edition comes in KFC's recognizable shiny red color and the rear side is embossed with Colonel Sander's face, along with the date KFC setup shop in China. There's also Huawei's logo as well. It will come pre-loaded with KFC app and KFC will offer 100,000 K Dollars (virtual credits on the KFC app in China) that users can spend on a jukebox service called K-music. Apart from the special edition tag, the hardware inside is likely to be similar to the regular Enjoy 7. It will feature 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 425 Mobile Platform, 3GB RAM, 32GB expandable storage, 13MP/5MP cameras, fingerprint scanner and 3200mAh battery. The Enjoy 7 KFC edition has been priced at CNY 1099 (Rs. 10,500 | $162). It will be sold exclusively in China in limited quantities of 5,000 units via KFC's Tmall store from July 13.
KFC Canada introduced a limited edition Chicken bucket that doubles as a Bluetooth photo printer.. Called 'The Memories Bucket', it was made to celebrate KFC Canada's 60th anniversary and lets you print photos wireless from your smartphone or tablet The Memories Bucket looks like your regular chicken bucket but has a built-in Bluetooth-enabled wireless printer. Users will need to take photos using their phone or tablet, select the photo that they need to print via special app, and send it to Memories Bucket for printing. Users can also share the photos with their loved ones.
KFC Canada will be giving away a few of these special buckets and will be available for a limited time. There is no word if it will be available in other countries.
