Xiaomi starts rolling out MIUI 6 global stable OTA update for Redmi 1s

Xiaomi announced a major upgrade to the MIUI ROM, MIUI 6 last year. The beta build was released in April this year for the Redmi 1s users in India.

Now, Xiaomi has started rolling out the stable MIUI 6 v6.6.1.0.KHCMICF update for the Redmi 1s. The update package is around 642MB and is now rolling over the air. If you have not been notified about the update, you can check it manually via updater app or flash the update by downloading this ROM.

The update brings lockscreen notifications, revamped camera app, new notification center and more along with a cleaner. Several known issues has also been fixed. There is also a flash notification light for incoming calls along with IVR (Interactive Voice Response) shortcut feature for India region.

Xiaomi Redmi 1s was launched in India with MIUI 5 which is based on the dated Android Jelly Bean. The latest version, MIUI 6 is based on Android KitKat. Earlier it was available for few devices including Mi 4, Mi 3, Redmi Note, Redmi Note 2 and MiPad. The company is also working on a new version of MIUI 6 based on Android Lollipop, but there is no word when they plan to release it.

Xiaomi's MI 3 Now receiving MIUI 6 OS update OTA

 Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 4.4 based MIUI 6 update for Mi 3 in India. The update is now available over-the-air and is being released in phases, so it might take some time to reach all the Mi 3 smartphones.

The update with build number MIUI V6.3.3.0.KXDMIBL is about 550MB in size. It comes with a slew of features which include improved notification, optimisation of contacts, UI improvements, new seciurity features, enhanced e-mail app, smoothness when switching pages and many more. It will introduce animation to some apps like Clock, Weather, and Device unlock, etc.

Key of features of MIUI v6.0:

• Manage apps: Users can group their favourite apps in batches, widgets.
• Animations: With MIUI 6, smartphone browsing experience is set to reach new level. Be it transition from one app to another or installing new apps will not be ordinary anymore, there will be life-like movements and there will be rainbow effect when uninstalling apps, says the company.
• Notification: The new clutter-free interface brings smart-floating notifications with simple drop down banners/pop-ups
• Security: MIUI 6 provides more control to users so that they can keep tab on apps' back-ground activities, data-usage on phone, app permission options and more.
• Themes Store: The new update will provide user access to over 5,000 MIUI themes.
• Email: This app can put all mails with the same subject into one folder so that user can see what's new at a glance and also decide, which emails he/she wants to read first and when. Several types of mail accounts are supported and users just have to fill in their email address and password.

Xiaomi at the launch event of Mi 4 confirmed that the MIUI 6 update will reach for all Xiaomi handsets in India. The Redmi Note 4G is next in line followed by Redmi 1s and Redmi Note which will receive the update in late March.

Xiaomi's MIUI 6 Update Coming Soon To India

Alongside launching the Xiaomi Mi 4, the company also announced that the MIUI 6 would be available for Xiaomi's Mi 3 Redmi Note, Redmi Note 4G and Redmi 1s in early 2015. The Mi 4 which was launched earlier today comes with MIUI 6 pre-installed on it. 

The company shared the details of MIUI 6 update roll out in India. The Mi 3 and Redmi Note 4G will get the update in early February. On the other hand the Redmi Note and Redmi 1s will get the update in late March. MIUI 6 will also support several devices from other manufactures.

MIUI 6 introduces new ways to enhance your everyday productivity.It is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. It does not look like Android and has a totally different UI. In fact the MIUI 6, in terms of design, shares a lot of similarities with the Apple iOS.
