** Resuming sales in India **
Dear Mi fans,

Last week, we were forced to suspend sales in India due to an order passed by the Delhi High Court. Thanks for the overwhelming support so many of you have shown to Mi India in response to that!

We are happy to announce that the Delhi High Court today issued a ruling in our favor, allowing us to resume sales in India subject to certain terms.

The good news is that Redmi 1S is coming back next week and we’ll be having our next sale on Tuesday, December 23. Registration will open shortly — keep an eye on the Mi India page for details!
We will also be resuming sales of Redmi Note shortly, with the 4G model this time. More details on that very soon, stay tuned!

Delhi HC lifts the ban on Xiaomi Handsets until January 8 in India

Following a case filed by Ericsson, now there is finally some relief for Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi. The Delhi High court has permitted  the company to sell and import handsets into India until January 08, 2014. The ban is lifted on devices that comes with Qualcomm processors.

Xiaomi would be unable to sell 3G-variant of the recently launched Redmi Note (which features a MediaTek chipset) in India, while the Redmi Note 4G can still be sold. The Redmi 1S and the Mi 3 are the other handsets eligible for sale. Note that both these phones have recently been discontinued.

The Qualcomm powered Redmi Note 4G variant was expected to go on sale later this month. We expect the device to go on sale earlier than expected as Xiaomi will try to sell as many units as possible before the ban comes into effect again.

On December 8, Xiaomi was issued a legal notice from the Delhi High Court and was ordered to stop all imports and sales in India, following complaints from Ericsson after having infringed patents.

The next hearing on the matter regarding Xiaomi and Ericsson is scheduled for February 5.
