Moto G 2015 gets Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update


Motorola updates its Moto G 2015 to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in India in December last year. Now the company has started rolling out Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the phone in the country. Recently Moto X Play also had received the same update. The new update brings a couple of bug fixes and new features.

After your Moto G 2015 is update, you'll be able to launch the camera by double pressing the power button, and can also turn on or off the sound of camera shutter. The update also brings enhanced system stability, several bug fixes and improved performance. It also includes Android security patches for the month of March. 

The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the Moto G 2015 weighs 370MB in size, and is being rolled out over the air (OTA). If you've not yet been notified of the update you can do a manual check by going to Settings > About Phone > System and select Yes I'm in, and select the required download option. Make sure to back up your phone data before updating, in case things go south at the time of update.

Motorola is also expected to push the same update for older Moto G handsets and Moto X Style in the coming weeks.

Moto G (2015) promo video, Moto maker options, price and other details surfaces online


New Motorola devices are releasing in just a few days on July 28. The third gen Moto G and Moto X are expected to be launched on that day. As we inch closer to the even, details of Moto G (2015) continues to surface online. This time the phone is seen in a promo video and hands-on treatment photos. Also there is the Moto Maker listing page showing the possible customisation options for the Moto G (2015), plus a leaked price list revealing the price of the handset.

The Moto maker listing page details a number of Moto Maker customization options. The listing page suggests that Moto G (2015) will come in black and white front panels. There will be ten rear color options, plus 10 metallic accent colors. Up to five different Flip shells, optional add on accessory are listed for $20. The page hints that the Moto G 2015 will be available in two storage/RAM variants, 8GB storage with 1GB RAM and 16GB storage with 2GB RAM.
Another leak is related to the Moto G (2015) battery, an image of a price card reveals that the phone's battery can 'power you through a full day'. The handset is likely to pack a 2470mAh battery. In addition the price card revealed that the Moto G 2015 will be IPX7-rated and sport a 5-inch HD display and quad-core processor. The price card also confirms that the Moto G (2015) will be available in Canada via Teleus.



In another leak, a promo video of Moto G (2015) surfaced online. The video is made by Motorola Brazil and is presented by Americanas, Brazilian retailer. Most the previously leaked details of the Moto G (2015) are confirmed on the promo video. The promo video shows the Moto G 2015 and various features including 5-inch display, quad-core processor, 4G support, IPX7 certification, 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel front shooter, microSD card support, dual-SIM support, Android 5.1 Lollipop and a battery that can last a day.




Moving on, Laptopmedia shared photos of the Moto G (2015) showing the handset in its full glory and all possible angles. The Moto G (2015) in the photos are in line with what we have seen in earlier leaks, We can see the Moto G third gen screen turned on displaying the Home Screen. The rear side of the handset sports an LG-like strip near the rear camera. It houses rear camera with LED flash at one end and Motorola logo at the other. The battery is non-removable.

Lastly, a leaked priced list that come from U.S cellular reveals that Moto G (2015) will cost $179.99 off contract, which means it is going to be cheaper that Moto G 2nd gen.

Live photos of 2015 edition of Motorola Moto G, Moto X surfaces online


Motorola announced that it has an event scheduled for July 28 where it will launch new mobile products. It is being said that the third generation of Moto X and Moto G will be announced at the July 28 event. But, before that is about to happen, we will be treated to live images, press renders and specs of the device. Now possible live images of the third-gen Moto G and Moto X has surfaced online. 

The Moto G 2015 images come courtesy Motorola Fans which shared four images on Facebook and claimed that it is a testing model. We can see the Moto G third gen screen turned on displaying the settings page which shows the model number of the handset to be XT1542. The other image shows the rear side of the handset sporting an LG-like strip near the rear camera. It houses rear camera with LED flash at one end and Motorola logo at the other.


The Moto X 2015 was leaked via Google+ user and the device was also said to be testing unit. In the image, the textured rear side of the handset is visible with a LG-like strip with rear camera with LED flash on one side and Motorola logo on the other (same as Moto G 2015). It is said to be called as Moto X Sport and will get a big bump in camera and battery capacity.


Based on leaks, the Moto G 2015 is said to comes in two variants - 8GB storage with 1GB RAM or 16GB storage with 2GB RAM. Other features include 5-inch HD 720p display, quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU, microSD card support, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera and 2470mAh battery. It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and is IPX7 certified. 

The Moto X 2015 is rumored to feature 5.64-inch quad-HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB or 64GB internal storage, 16MP/5MP camera, USB Type-C port and 3280mAh battery. It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

Press renders of Motorola Moto G (2015) surfaces online

Motorola Moto G (2015) XT1540 with codename Osprey was allegdly spotted in a hands-on video last week. Now press renders of the mobile device have surfaced on the interwebs.

The Moto G (2015) will have a similar design as the Moto G 2nd gen, including dual front facing speakers. The rear panel has a design change. The renders show that the phone has a newly designed back panel with a vertical strip on it that houses the main camera and dual-LED flash, also present is Motorola logo on a metal piece. The back cover has small patterns. It is worth noting that, the renders are in line with the mobile device that was spotted on hands on video last week.

Moto G is one of the best budget-friendly mobile device available in the market that offers decent specs at competitive price. It made its way to Indian market in early 2014, few months later, followed by the successor and has performed really well.

So far rumor suggests that Moto G (2015) will feature 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 410 processor, 1G RAM, 8GB internal storage, microSD card slot, 13-megapixel & 5-megapixel front facing camera and 2300mAh battery. It runs stock version of Android Lollipop out of the box. 

The Motorola Moto G 2nd gen was launched in September last year, so it's like we can see the The Moto G (2015) to go official in September.

Moto G (2015) surfaces online with specs in leaked video


Motorola's third generation Moto G (2015) has surfaced in a hands-on video which also reveals some the specs of the phone via benchmark results. The phone is codenamed Osprey and has a model number XT1543.

The Moto G (2015) seen in the video is said to be prototype. The front side looks similar to the Second gen Moto G, the changes are seen on the rear. It sports a textured black panel and a LG-like stripe on the rear camera.

According to the benchmark results seen in the video, the Moto G (2015) will feature a 5-inch screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and microSD card slot. It is likely to run Android 5.1.1 and support 4G LTE connectivity.

The Moto G 2015 will sport 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front facing camera which is an upgrade from 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front shooter seen on Moto G 2nd gen.

The Antutu benchmark score of the Moto G 2015 seen in the video is 23355 which is an improvement over 18249 score for the current gen. In addition, a number of colorful interchangeable backpanel is listed on AliExpress.
